80

So after the final whistle England have picked up where they finished 2012 with a commanding performance against a valiant Scottish outfit. Remember to join us tomorrow when Italy take on France in Rome. Good night.

80

TRY to England. Snipe from Danny Care next to the ruck and he goes over to cap off a dominant performance from England. Farrell drop-kicks the final conversion from in front and that is the end of the game.

77

England keep hammering but Scotland hold out once again. The cracks are showing but they still hanging in there. They win a penalty on their own line to give themselves some breathing space. Hard-hitting rugby from both sides.

70

TRY for Scotland. With that said the game once again burst into life with Scotland going the length of the field to dot down in the corner. A number of hacks through from Maitland and Hogg leads to the Fullback winning the race to fall on the ball in the corner. Phenomenal kick from Laidlaw sees him add the extra two points. Scotland are galvanized and although it might be too far they are having a real crack at it.

66

Game is starting to reside into a lull as players get a bit more tired. Fairly stop-start at the moment. Scotland give a penalty away in the England half after, arguably, their best passage of play in the second half.

60

England getting their hands on all the ball in this half and are looking very likely to increase their lead. Scotland can only defend for so long. Fatigue starting to set in.

54

TRY for the English. They get their try in the end. A great dart from Ben Youngs and quick ball and a great floated pass from Farrell meant that Geoff Parling goes over in the corner. Farrell misses his first kick of the day as he fades it pas the right hand upright.

53

England think they score but the try is disallowed due to foul play from Dan Cole and Scotland can relieve some of the pressure that was on them through a clearance penalty kick.

48

Scottish hooker Dougie Hall is replaced by Ross Ford who looks to have picked up a knee injuring as he limps off the field.

43

TRY for the English. Debutant Billy Twelvetrees scores in the corner after sustained pressure from England. Farrell added the extra two points from the corner. He is kicking brilliantly today.

41

Scotland get us underway for the second 40 minutes. If the first stanza is anything to go by we should be in for an exciting half of rugby.

40

PENALTY to Scotland through Laidlaw on the stroke of halftime. England have been the better side but the Scots have hung in there and with a few opportunities in the second period we could be in for an interesting finish at Twickenham.

38

PENALTY from Farrell as he kicks another goal from 48 metres but right in front. Scotland can't afford to give him an opportunity to kick for goal because they will be punished.

35

Game settling down a bit just before the break. Hogg with some booming punts down field. England win a penalty after a high tackle from Johnnie Beattie on Ben Morgan. Nothing malicious in it.

30

TRY for England. The pressure finally told as Launchbury bust through the centre and it was rounded off by Chris Ashton. Farrell added the two points to put a bit of breathing space between the two teams.

27

Alisdair Stokosch will not return to the field because of injury.

26

Very entertaining start to the match as England start to use the width of the pitch to try and flex their muscles. Scotland defending very well to keep England out.

20

Laidlaw opens his account with a PENALTY for Scotland. The lead is closed to just a single point. Been an exciting start to the fixture with both sides making big tackles.

18

Denton with a wild pass over his flyhalf's head and forces Scotland to consolidate but concede a penalty.

18

PENALTY for England and Farrell kicks it over from just right of the uprights. England stretch their lead to four points.

15

David Denton comes on to the field for Scotland as what looks like a blood replacement for Alisdair Stokosch.

13

Roulland having a word with Kelly Brown as Scotland concede a penalty through some lazy play at the ruck. Farrell lines it up from about 30 metres. He kicks it over and England lead once again.

11

TRY for the debutant Sean Maitland. Great break from Stuart Hogg who bumped off a defender to set up a great passage for the Scots. Finished on the short side after some great work from Laidlaw. Conversion is missed.

7

It's all England at the moment as they have been camped in the Scottish half for the opening minutes of the game. Scotland falling off tackles and battling to stop England crossing the advantage line.

3

PENALTY to England after a patient build-up from the English. Owen Farrell gets the scoreboard up and running.

0

It's going to be Owen Farrell to get us underway here at Twickenham

-5

The players are ready to take the field in London. Great weather conditions and we hope to see a top game of rugby.

-10

Billy Twelvetrees makes his debut at inside centre for the English today with Brad Barritt shifting into the outside centre position. Former Crusader Sean Maitland makes his debut for Scotland on the wing.

-30

We are 30 minutes away from kick-off at Twickenham where England host old rivals Scotland in the Calcutta Cup. England ended 2012 on a high and will be looking to get 2013 off to a winning start. Scotland are going to want to upset the apple cart and win away from home and get their confidence up going into the rest of the Six Nations campaign.
