The Bulls launch an up-and-under but Le Roux is up for it. Coenie Oosthuizen is driven into touch and that's FULL-TIME!

Pollard rushes after being award a scrum PENALTY and it's good!

The Bulls have to attack from out of their own half after a good touch finder by Goosen. The Cheetahs are blown up for sacking the maul but Pollard doesn't find touch. Criminal error!

The Bulls hit the ball up with power and purpose - it's now or never - but it's a big knock-on after some miscommunication.

Van Zyl's kick is way too deep and easy pickings for Le Roux as time ticks away for the Bulls.

Le Roux is pinpoint accurate with his chip into the corner but a penalty at the line-out allows the Bulls to exit their 22.

Le Roux tries to spark some magic with a chip and chase. He fly-hacks ahead and Visser knocks on. Goosen kicks from the scrum and Visser puts boot to ball as well but it's a gain for the Cheetahs.

A shocking pass by Van Zyl rolls into touch and he receives a few jeers from his former home crowd.

It's a big scrum by the Cheetahs but they end up being penalised so the Bulls get out of their half.

The Cheetahs try a driving maul but aren't gaining much ground. They peel off and go blind but it's a forward pass as the rain buckets down in Bloem.

Basson kicks out on the full just outside his 22.

Goosen has a much easier kick this time - Ross blown up - and nails the PENALTY!

Goosen, from 60m out on the angle, hits the crossbar!

A promising attack by the Bulls ends in a penalty to the Cheetahs, Serfontein knocking on and then holding a player back.

Van der Walt chips over Ndungane but he doesn't get the bounce and the Bulls are in the clear.

Le Roux looks on his way but a flick by Sadie went forward. The Bulls have had it their way thus far in the second half. Can they come back like the Lions did last weekend?

Hougaard tries in vain to spark something but the Cheetahs were offside. This time Pollard lands the PENALTY!

Matfield is now the most capped South African Super Rugby player in history. Prinsloo is pinged as he tries to win another turnover. The Bulls go for goal this time and Pollard misses a straightforward kick.

It's a stunning steal by Prinsloo and Le Roux clears with a good kick.

Ndungane does extremely well to win back a Hougaard box kick. Goosen is too quick to tackle Hougaard, he's offside, and the Bulls turn down the three as Matfield and Pollard come on.

Fouche gets the second half going!

Fouche will try his luck from 53m out - Venter not rolling away. It's wide and that's HALF-TIME! The Cheetahs lead 12-3!

Goosen tries a drop off the left foot now and again it's wobbly and wide.

It's scrappy line-out ball so Goosen goes for a drop but it's nowhere near going over.

Fouche overcooks a kick out of hand. How costly will that mistake be?

A botched quick line-out forces Venter to dot down and give the Bulls a five-metre scrum. The Cheetahs get away with it as the visitors are pinged at the scrum.

Hougaard offloads well to Greyling and Serfontein taps to Ndungane to free up space but three Cheetahs drag him into touch.

Fouche chips into space after some good phase play but Hendricks is there on the sweep. The Bulls manage a turnover and look to set up more phases but will feed a scrum instead after Coenie Oosthuizen knocked on in an attempt to win a turnover.

The Cheetahs string together their most promising attacking sequence before Ross is penalised for jumping the gun. Goosen kicks the PENALTY!

For a second time, the restart is out on the full. The Cheetahs opt for the line-out in the slippery conditions.

Goosen hits back straight away with a PENALTY - the Bulls forwards caught offside.

Serfontein drives over the gainline before Francois Venter is blown up for coming in from the side. Fouche slots the PENALTY this time round!

Venter concedes another free kick at scrum time - not straight - the next will be a full arm says the ref.

Visagie's throw-in to the ensuing line-out isn't straight.

Hougaard comes away with the ball from the line-out and oh so nearly scores. The Bulls recycle and pop to a wave of forwards but a knock-on ruins the opportunity. Le Roux offers relief from the scrum.

Serfontein gets a good run in before Fouche grubbers and finds touch inside the Cheetahs' 22.

Extreme pressure sees Visser rush his kick into touch inside his 22. Prime attacking opportunity but Kruger wins a good penalty on the deck 10m from his own line.

A deft chip by Le Roux rolls into touch in the 22. Nearly big problems there for the Bulls.

Caylib Oosthuizen is pinged at the scrum but Fouche misses the straight shot at goal.

Venter concedes a free kick for taking too long to feed the scrum. The Bulls opt for the scrum.

The Bulls' first attacking movement inside the Cheetahs' half ends after a forward pass by Fouche. The ball is definitely slippery.

Goosen nails the PENALTY!

Sadie beats a number of defenders in the first breakaway of the game and the Bulls are penalised in the scramble.

That certainly took the Bulls by surprise as the restart goes out on the full.

Goosen pops over a brilliant DROP-GOAL! What a start!

Goosen gets us underway in the rain!

The Cheetahs are chasing their first ever Super Rugby win over the men from Pretoria. They’ve lost 11 straight against the Bulls and will see tonight as their best chance yet to break that drought. Crucially, it has been raining in Bloem so it will be slippery underfoot and will certainly curb the Cheetahs’ natural attacking game. No doubt the weather favours the physical, route one Bulls.

The Bulls come off an away defeat in Durban against a Sharks side expected to spearhead South Africa’s Super Rugby surge. It’s the nature of the loss – the one-sidedness of the contest – that would have been of great concern to Frans Ludeke. A win in Bloem would go a long way towards quelling those concerns.

The Cheetahs come into the match with much to prove after their shock last-minute loss to the Lions. A second successive loss at home would be a major setback, so the Free Staters will be feeling the heat.

Welcome to our build up to the battle in Bloemfontein where both the Cheetahs and the Bulls will be looking to bounce back from their opening round defeats.
