Minute Commentary

One last feeble attempt by the Force, but the Waratahs easily push them into touch as the hooter for FULL-TIME goes. That's it here from Sydney. Not a good game. Some good moments, but too many penalties and an enormous error count will be the features best remembered from this game. Join us again next week when we bring you Round Three of the Super Rugby season - LIVE right here on!

Foley eventually clears his lines after the Tahs bashed it a couple of times inside their 22

Force set up a maul, but it is collapsed and the Tahs win the scrum feed

Another penalty against the Tahs and the referee seems to be losing his patience - talking to the captains now

Another penalty to the Force - they tap quickly, but the referee brings them back - this time they set up a line-out inside the Tahs 22

Waratahs taking it through the phases, but concede a penalty near halfway ... more bad to go with the very little good in this game

Force looking for a consolation score, but concedes a penalty inside the Tahs 22

Bernard Foley adds the CONVERSION - 43-21

TRY - Kurtley Beale runs into a huge hole, vreated by Matt Carraro, a set-piece move woked off the back of a line-out ... looked all too easy!

Paddy Ryan puts the ball down cold 10m out from the line - that's been a recurring theme, some good undone by plenty of bad - there's a long delay as Brynard Stander is taken off the field on a mobile stretcher after getting his head on the wrong side of a tackle - he is moving his arms and is awake, but they are not taking any chance

Waratahs now full of running - the Force are spent

Bernard Foley adds the CONVERSION and the lead jumps out to 36-21

TRY - Waratahs attack and again turn over the ball near the Force 22, it is kicked upfield and the Tahs counter. Matt Carraro finds plenty of space and off-koafs to Israel Folau, who completes his hat-trick

Zack Holmes adds the CONVERSION and somehow the Force have worked their way back into the game - 21-29

TRY - Kyle Godwin gets the five-pointer, but this goes back to an intervention from Nick Cummins inside his 22, an intercept and kick ahead, hard sprinting and the Tahs unable to deal with the bouncing ball - Cummins giving the final pass

Zack Holmes struggl;es to clear his lines - Tahs have a line-out feed on the Force 22

Waratahs again running hard at the Force, but just inside the 22 Phipps is tackled into touch

The Force looking to work their way back into the game, but a handling error near halfway brings that attempt to and end - that about sums up their day, some good, plenty of bad ... VERY BAD!

Bernard Foley adds the CONVERSION and the Tahs now lead 29-14

TRY - Kane Douglas hovering out on the wing and gleefully accepts the scoring pass

Eventually the game restarts with a line-out and the Tahs now running hard at the Force

Another scrum reset - that's twice now the same scrum has been reset and it has taken up all of two minutes in which nothing has happened

Zack Holmes, from right in front, slots the PENALTY and narrows the gap to 14-22

Penalty against the Waratahs for offside - surely the referee will card another player soon - some of this is just cynical

Waratahs forced to carry the ball over their own goalline - scrum reset, surprise, surprise

Force bash for a few phases and then knock it on about just on 5 metres out from the line

Another penalty at the tackle - this time against the Tahs - there's going to be more cards in this game if something doesn't change soon

Another penalty, this time to the Tahs, at the tackle - this is just crazy

Force set up another line-out, but it becomes a collapsed maul and the scrum feed goes to the Tahs

YELLOW CARD - Paddy Ryan sent to the bin for repeated infringements at the breakdown

Another penalty and now the referee speaking to the Tahs - Force set up another line-out

Zack Holmes gets us underway in the second half - Waratahs penalised straight away - Force set up a line-out

TRY - Another penalty to the Waratahs, this time for offside and this time Bernard Foley aims at the posts. He hits the upright and as the Force players go to sleep Alofa Alofa chases hard to collect and score the five-pointer. Foley adds the CONVERSION and the Waratahs take a 22-11 lead into the HALF-TIME break. It has not been an inspiring half, but good end to the first 40 for the Tahs. See you in 10 minutes.

Penalty to the Tahs, but Bernard Foley kicked it out behind the goal-line - SHOCKER

Waratahs looking t hit back, but a kock-on giofts the ball to the Force. Dellit steps into touch still inside his own 22

Zack Holmes can't add the extras - 11-15

TRY - The maul goes close before collapsing, then a few bashes by the forwards, before Nick Cummins barges over from close range

Adam Ashley-Cooper penalised at a tackle inside the Tahs 22 - Force set up a line-out

Another scrum - this time a penalty to the Force - SIMPLY SHOCKING

Free kick at the scrum - not a single scrum has been completed the first time, which is par for the course with Aussie teams

Another turnover won by the Force, but near the Tahs 22 there is a hand in the way - scrum feed going to the Force

Force win a turnover inside their 22, but then Cummins knocks it on - poor skills both ways

Waratahs work their way towards the Force 22 and quickly gets another penalty - it is a poor game, stop-start and little real structure

Zack Holmes, from right in ftont, slots the PENALTY and the gap narrows to 6-15

Force looking to bounce back straight away and work their way into the Tahs 22, where they get a penalty at the breakdown

Bernard Foley adds the CONVERSION and the Waratahs lead 15-3

TRY - It didn't take long for the Tahs to get the five-point, Israel Folau put into space and over by a great pass from Palu

Alofa Alofa shows some great skills, but the ball had gone into touch before he collected it - no try

Waratahs have a three-man overlap, but a poor pass and then a knock-on brings that move to an end inside the Force 22

Waratahs cough up the ball in the tackle, but win a turnover at the breakdown - skills on both sides not very high

Lots of poor kicking on both side -it all ends with a 22 restart by the Force

Bernard Foley, from 23m out, slots the PENALTY and the Tahs lead 8-3

Waratahs steal the line-out, but just outside the Force 22 the Waratahs get a penalty - offside this time

They set up a line-out, but the short throw brings them no reward and now a penalty going to the Force - scrums and breakdown a real mess

Penalty at the breakdown going to the Tahs - penalty count mounting at an alarming rate

Surprise, surprise ... scrum is reset again - what is it with these Aussie teams? That becomes a penalty to the Tahs

Zack Holmes, from 25m out, slots the PENALTY and the Force are on the board - 3-5

Another penalty to the Force - illegal play at the maul

Penalty to the Force for interference with the scrumhalf behind the ruck - Force sets up a line-out inside Tahs 22

Waratahs knock on in midfield - too many forwards cluttering that area

Zack Holmes, from about 40m out, pushes his penalty attempt past the right upright

Folau takes a high ball, but is penalised when he holds on - no support to protect him

No surprise, but the scrum is a mess when Australian teams are involved - already the ref is warning the props

Bernard Foley hooks his conversion attempt past the left upright - 5-0

TRY - Israel Folau is over, great hands and a strong charge on the right wing by Alofa Alofa - best possible start for the Waratahs

Foley gets us underway in Perth!

Teams ready to take to the field

It is great weather for rugby, seems the crowd is at the beach ... or somewhere else. Certainly not at the stadium

All eyes will be on Kurtley Beale's Waratahs return today. Michael Cheika has moved the playmaker into the centres this season

Not the biggest crowd ... hardly over 10,000 - if that much

Waratahs need to be more consistent this year if they hope to be contenders and not just be also-rans again!

The Waratahs' only Saffer, Jacques Potgieter, is on the bench!

A very heavy South African presence in the Western Force team - Wilhelm Steenkamp, Brynard Stander and Sias Ebersohn
