FULL TIME - the Hurricanes try to get in range for a final points scoring opportunity but the ball is lost forward and the Highlanders hold on for a tight victory


TRY - Barrett gets his second try just near the end of the game after a good blind side move. Barrett tries a snap drop goal to get the game moving but its wide


Highlanders are trying to keep it tight again as they will want to see this game out with an 8 point lead


TRY - Barrett scores under the posts for the Hurricanes as Andre Taylor counters from a charged down Highlanders drop goal. CONVERSION - Barrett converts his own try after making it easy by going in under the posts


Highlanders now have a chance to attack as they keep it tight to try and wind down the clock


Hurricanes on attack as they try and take advantage of the extra man, its slow going as they look for options, up to the 5 metre now - they need to convert but they are penalised for holding on! Highlanders clear once again


YELLOW CARD - Jarrad Hoeata is carded for the Highlanders as the Hurricanes set up a metre short but they waste the opportunity as they are penalised and the Highlanders clear


Hurricanes continue to push in to the Highlanders half but they loose the ball and the Highlanders have a good chance to clear but its hacked off the side of Ben Smith's boot


CONVERSION - Barrett is on hand to add the extra three points


TRY - Ben Franks goes over from short, it is sent upstairs and the grounding is good


'Canes have made some good ground into the Highlanders half and decide on a quick tap from a penalty as they are inches short, another penalty for the 'Canes, another quick tap


Highlanders started the game well but are now starting to get into the swing of things as decisions to go their way


TRY - Patrick Osborne snatches on to a long pass from Hadleigh Parkes and is able to run half the lenghth of the field to see the Highlanders to their second try. CONVERSION - Sopoaga strikes another great one!


PENALTY - Sopoaga keeps adding the points as the Highlanders push out a decent lead


Mistakes are starting to sneak in to the Hurricanes game as Perenara kicks one out on the full, play continues but the Highlanders have another chance to extend their lead through another penalty


TRY - After a great break from Sopoaga the Hurricanes were scrambling, it then took another counter attack break from Ben Smith, Who stayed in support to collect a great pass from Aaron Smith who offloaded to Phil Burleigh to go under the posts. CONVERSION - from Sopoaga is good


Conrad Smith is absolutely smashed in an isolated tackle which sees the Highlanders flood the ruck and win the scrum on the 'Canes 22


PENALTY - Barrett gets the first points of the half for the 'Canes


Hadleigh Parkes makes a great break through the Highlanders defensive line which gets the visitors on to the home teams 22 as they continue to probe


Barrett finally decided to kick and now the Highlanders are on attack on the 'Canes 22 but Jed Robinson is penalised for the Highlanders and the Hurricanes can finally clear


Hurricanes begin the half on attack but they are still in their own half and are actually going backwards


We are back underway in the second half as Barrett kicks us off!


Highlanders are able to turn it over and they are happy to boot it into touch for HALF TIME!


'Canes are up to the 22 now after a few good bursts from the back


Hurricanes have a good attacking platform from the scrum but the pressure imparted by the home team causes a scrappy ball to come free, 'Canes continue to attack from deep


Highlanders earn a penalty just inside the opposition half and Sopoaga lines up again, PENALTY - he keeps striking them well


Highlanders defensive line speed sees the Highlanders turn possession over and they decide to run it out


Hurricanes attack now sees them deep into the Highlanders 22, the ball becomes unplayable 5 metres out and the 'Canes have an attacking scrum


Strong Highlanders scrum but they are penalised in a great attacking position and the 'Canes can clear to set a line-out on half way


PENALTY - Barrett knocks over a long one


A great kick chase by the Hurricanes in the middle of the park sees them earn a penalty for holding on, Barrett lines up a kick


PENALTY - Sopoaga manages just to sneak it over as he takes the Highlanders out to a comfortable lead


Highlanders now earn a penalty from the scrum on the halfway line, Sopoaga is backing himself for another long kick


PENALTY - Highlanders strike straight back from the kick off and negate the Hurricanes previous penalty, Sopoaga pops it over

Hurricanes earn a penalty from the continued pressure in front of the posts and decide to take the points


Hurricanes finally have their first attacking opportunity in the Highlanders half, they are finding holes as they reach the Highlanders 22


PENALTY - Sopoaga keeps stretching the Highlanders lead


Highlanders keep trying to get in behind the 'Canes defensive line but a kick goes to far and its dotted down, the Hurricanes kick the ball back to the Highlanders and give away a penalty

Another penalty to the Highlanders as Owen franks is caught offside, Sopoaga lines up another kick from far out


The Highlanders continue to probe the line with big Brad Thorn breaking through but he is turned over the the Hurricanes can only hack it down field. Highlanders back on attack


PENALTY - Barrett strikes it well to get the Hurricanes on even terms


Highlanders concede a soft penalty from a high up and under for offsides which gives the Hurricanes an opportunity to put some points on the board


PENALTY - he gets it on the second attempt


Highlanders are camped down the the Hurricanes half now as they seem happy to throw the ball around, the Highlanders finally earn a penalty in the same spot for offsides, lets see if Sopoaga can get it second time round


Lima Sopoaga has an easy penalty kick but it strikes the post, he chases the ball up but cant get a hand to it as its dotted down for a 22


Strong start from the Highlanders, running from the back but then kicking for territory to put pressure on the Hurricanes line-out. Highlanders manage to gain possession just outside the 'Canes 22 and push forward on attack


We are underway as Lima Sopoaga switch kicks the ball to the right wing


Under the roof at Forsyth Barr Stadium means that the weather, regardless of what it is, wont have much effect on the game. The hurricanes will always be looking for good conditions to implement their attacking game


The Highlanders will be looking for a far better performance after poor decision making let them down against the Force - they have tried to remedy this by electing a single captain in Nassi Manu. The Hurricanes were brilliantly led by their All Black pivot Beauden Barrett against the Cheetahs and they will be looking to him to keep the score board ticking over


This big New Zealand derby showcases two contrasting teams go head to head, the Highlanders are renowned for their structure and solid defense while the Hurricanes are happy to throw the ball around, hopefully it should make for an exciting game of both attack and defense
