Stay with us as we go across to Canberra where the Brumbies are hosting the Blues

Rebels trying to keep possession by running the ball out of the their own 22 but its a bad idea as Higginbotham is penalised, the Highlanders decide to go for a lineout. they build up the phases a few metres out, a penalty is awarded and they decide to go for the line again until Sopoaga has had enough and boots it out. FULL TIME in Dunedin and the Highlanders have won it by three

TRY - Woodward makes a great break and an even better hand off to rush over the line and score. The CONVERSION is good on his own try

Burges goes from the base of the scrum but is caught, he throws the ball up for anyone to grab and the Highlanders come away with it as they kick down field to release some pressure

Rebels scrum is solid, and again they get within a few metres - another Rebels penalty for the Highlanders being off sides - the ball is swung wide and Kurt Baker goes for the intercept but knocks it on as well as saving a certain try

Rebels are over the line but its held up and the referee awards a 5 metre scrum

Pat Leafa is penalised for a shoulder charge off the ball but he is not carded, the Highlanders don't put the ball out giving the Rebels another chance to attack, Higginbotham gets them close to the line as they continue to go through the phases but its knocked on and they go back for the penalty advantage. Rebels tap and go

Rebels now maul the ball up into the 22 as they look to poke holes but its lost and the Highlanders attempt a counter attack but play is stopped as the linesmans flag is up

Rebels now have the a penalty - once again coming from the scrum as Woodward sends the ball in to Highlanders territory

Handling errors starting to creep into the game as all the scrums are slowing the momentum. Highlanders have the scrum that needs to be reset a couple times until a penalty is awarded to the Highlanders who kick into Rebels territory

Stirzaker finally decides to go to the boot and it goes horribly wrong as it is out on the full as the Highlanders win the lineout and look to attack. There is a penalty awarded for the Rebels being offsides again and the ref wants a word with the Rebels captain. Sopoaga lines up another PENALTY and its over

Some scrappy play from the two teams ends in a knock on scrum to the Rebels near the centre of the field

Highlanders throw a shocking pass in a botched backline move which ends with the home team getting a penalty for the Rebels being offsides - Sopoaga points to the posts and the penalty is off the posts, Stirzaker lucky just to dot it down for a 22 drop out

Its all very futile as the Rebels waste their line out with a skew throw from Pat Leafa, the Highlanders have a better scrum but the resulting play offers the Rebels a PENALTY that Woodward converts

Rebels under the pump now as they look to attack from their own half, good hands from the visitors sees them keeping the ball alive

It looks like a tighthead at the scrum for the Rebels but a penalty is awarded to the Highlanders and they decide to roll the dice and go for the corner flag. Another penalty for the Highlanders from the resulting play, they are inches away from the line until it is swung wide for Ben Smith to score the TRY. The CONVERSION is a tough one from the edge of the field but Sopoaga slots it

The Rebels spill the ball forward and the Highlanders attempt a counter attack as Sopoaga puts in a brilliant grubber for Ben Smith to chase, he manages to reach it just before going into touch but cant slap it back into the field of play

Highlanders trying to get some points back as they attack hard into the Rebels 22, they win a penalty in front of the posts and the PENALTY is converted by Sopoaga

It only results in a penalty as Sean McMahon is lucky to not get a yellowcard, Highlanders attack from the line out and go through the phases until it is intercepted by Higginbotham, he makes loads of metres and eventually kicks the ball ahead for Angus Roberts to run onto and score the TRY. The CONVERSION is over from Woodward

Early running coming from the Rebels but it is too easily turned over as the Highlanders hold up a maul and earn a scrum, Aaron Smith breaks away and he looks like he is dumped dangerously in the tackle - referee wants to have a look

We are back for the SECOND HALF as the Rebels kick off through Woodward

Another penalty at scrum time, this time for the Highlanders. Sopoaga lines up and the penalty is missed on the hooter. That's HALF TIME

The Rebels now earn a penalty from the scrum and they can put some much needed points on the board through the boot of Jason Woodward. PENALTY - Woodward makes it a seven point game

Stirzaker is caught going slow at the breakdown by All Black Aaron smith but unfortunately for the Highlanders he knocks it on and the Rebels retain possession from the scrum

Rebels affect a turnover by holding up a maul in the Highlanders half and you feel that they really need to strike from this scrum or the game may slip away from them

A solid scrum from the Highlanders earns them a penalty, the ball sat in the middle of the scrum with no one able to hook it until the Rebels crumble and go in on the angle. PENALTY - Sopoaga adds the points

A good grubber from Sopoaga is picked up my Fekitoa for the Highlanders, he tries to offload but no one wants it and it is knocked on - Rebels scrum but they are now camped in their own half

Another Rebels penalty to gain some territory and its not put out so the Highlanders return a kick out into touch and there is no net gain for the Rebels

Luckily for the Rebels, Roberts has returned from his concussion test and they can try and get some semblance of organisation. It starts well as the Rebels win a penalty and clear from their half

The Rebels backline has had to reshuffle again as both Hegarty and Roberts are off with concussions. its a make shift arrangement now for the visitors as the Highlanders continue to attack

Woodward has another chance off the kick-off to cut the deficit but it slides wide from the Penalty

TRY - Arron Smith steps his way over the line after picking up from the base of the ruck he then puts on a great step to fool Jason Woodward to dot sown near the posts. CONVERSION - Sopoaga pops over the easy conversion

Rebels suffer more pressure near their goal line after a good kick from Sopoaga, the Rebels keep possession but cant clear their lines as the Highlanders are back on attack

PENALTY - Woodward strikes back straight off the kickoff for the Rebels

Rebels under pressure as the ball is juggled by Roberts, they are penalised and the Highlander go quickly and its a TRY to Shane Christie after the ball is swung wide, Christie recycles quickly and powers over the line. CONVERSION - Sopoaga boots over one from the side of the field

The pass was adjudged forward and its a Rebels defensive scrum, they do well to clear their lines

Rebels poking holes with some tough running but the ball comes free and the Highlanders have a great counter attacking opportunity - Buckman swings a wild pass inside for the Highlanders under enormous pressure but the referee wants to see if its gone forward.

Highlanders stringing together some phases now as they approach the 22, they claim a penalty for a offside player from the Rebels. Sopoaga lines up for the PEnALTY and its good

TRY - Nic Stirzaker sells a dummy tight against the ruck he makes a break, steps one and is able to offload to Scott Fuglistaller who finishes off the move right near the posts. CONVERSION - Woodward adds the easy extra two points

First attacking opportunity for the Rebels goes wrong quickly as Tamati Ellison chips it out on the full, Highlanders secure their line out and put up a high kick but Jason Woodward grabs it and looks for space - Rebels on attack again just outside the 22

A powefull scrum first up from the Highlanders but they are penalised for coming in on the angle so replacement Angus Roberts puts the ball out down the touch line for the Rebels

Early interception from Scott Higginbotham for the Rebels but they are lucky as he trips himself, the ball returns to the Highlanders who decide to chip the ball - there is contact in the air as Bryce Hegarty falls awkwardly but it looks like Richard Buckman was going for ball. Hegarty is off the field

We are underway in Dunedin as Sopoaga kicks off for the Highlanders

As always at the 'Lunch box' the weather wont play much part in the game with the roof protecting the pitch from the elements, however there is still a bit of a breeze cutting through the stadium

A big match-up in this game must be between the No.8's - Nasi Manu for the Highlanders and Scott Higginbotham, Both of these players are captains of their respective teams and also the types of players that lead from the front - look for them to be very influential

The Rebels Victory over the high-flying Brumbies did a lot to highlight their own inconsistency with the visitors sometimes being sublime - as against the Cheetahs and Brumbies most recently, but they can also be dire as they were against the Waratahs and Force. It all depends which team shows up on the day

The Highlanders have been fairly inconsistent but they will be hoping that their home ground advantage will be telling - they have ditched the 'House of pain' in Carisbrooke for the 'Lunch box' - which the Highlanders played have nickenamed the Forsyth Barr stadium - not the best of signs for the home team

Welcome to round eight of Super Rugby! We begin in Dunedin where the Highlanders take on the wounded Brumbies who suffered a shock defeat against the Rebels last weekend. The Highlanders will also be smarting after being taken to the cleaners against the Blues away from home - they will be looking to bounce back back at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.
