Minute Commentary

Groom takes it quickly and gives it to Kolisi but he is turned over and the Tahs have it but soon knock it on. Another scrum and then another penalty to the Stormers. The Stormers try again but then win yet another penalty as the Tahs spoil. Phipps gets a YELLOW CARD for his antics and the Stormers lose the ball forward and that is FULL TIME! A good performance from the Waratahs sees them bag the vital log points for a well deserved victory to take home with them as they travel back to Australia to play the Force next week. Meanwhile, the last-placed Stormers have a lot to work on going into their bye week, having now lost five games in a row, and this error-strewn performance would have done little to ease the pressure on their embattled coaching staff. Stephan Coetzee's throw finds Carr and the Stormers maul it up and then spread it wide but don't score despite an overlap as a loose pass from de Jongh halts the move. The Stormers have a penalty and they take it quickly, but Kebble is held up over the try line. 5m scrum to the Stormers and Brendan McKibbin spoils the ball. Another penalty

The throw is skew for the Waratahs and the Stormers get the scrum, and then a penalty for the Tahs collapsing. Catrakilis finds touch inside the Tahs 22

The Tahs now keep ball in hand and piece together phase after phase before Beale tries a little chip kick. The Stormers collect it and Catrakilis boots it out on his own 10m line

Carr is penalised for entering the ruck from the side and the visitors can kick themselves further away from their own line. Now they enter the Stormers' half and string together the phases. They are looking dangerous with ball in hand before Jonno Lance loses it forward and Grant kicks the ball away aimlessly straight back to the Tahs. The Stormers get the ball again and kick it away once more... with only six minutes on the clock. The Tahs are only too happy to engage in the kicking duel

The Stormers win a penalty straightaway as the Tahs' tackler doesn't release after making the taking. It is Ashley-Cooper. But the Stormers lose the ball at the lineout and then Botha tackles Dennis in the air. The Tahs clear to just outside their 22

The Tahs set up the maul but Oliver Kebble goes in from the side and men from Sydney will kick at goal once more. Foley lines it up from 15m in from the right hand touchline and lands the PENALTY

The Waratahs build the phases inside the Stormers half before Beale kicks it ahead and Nic Groom hesitates when he clean up and is forced to take it into touch 5m from his own line

The home side has the lineout on the Tahs 10m and they maul it forward before sending it wide where Catrakilis runs it up. Grant is forced to hold on by Hooper however and the Tahs boot it into the Stormers half

Grant boots the ball away aimlessly to Beale who has plenty of time to send it out just inside the Stormers half. Deon Fourie's throw is not straight, which piles more pressure onto the Stormers. The Tahs then win the penalty at the scrum as Frans Malherbe is penalised. Beale lines up the kick from 45m and nails the PENALTY

Kolisi knocks on soon after the kick off and the Tahs have a good chance with a scrum just outside the Stormers 22. We have to reset a couple of times and then the Stormers get the free kick for an early Tahs drive

The Stormers win the lineout ball and set up the maul and win a penalty win the Waratahs decide pulling it down is the only way of stopping it. Grant finds touch and Vermuelen wins the ball just outside the 22. They set up the maul and then Kolisi break away before Carr runs well. They are just 2m out now. Pick and drive is just short from Carr and then it sent to de Jongh who tries to barge his way over the line. We go to the TMO to check if he grounded it. It was grounded but it was a double movement, but the Stormers had an advantage for offsides. Grant kicks the PENALTY

The Stormers look to hit back and send it wide after winning their lineout but Michael van der Spuy's pass is shocking and it goes forward and into touch. The visitors have a scrum inside their own half and Phipps breaks to the blindside back then skews his kick off the side of the boot into touch

Alofa is fine after all and we restart with a Tahs scrum 40m from the Stormers line. It's a penalty to the Tahs from the scrum - Steven Kitshoff is pinged for scrumming in. Foley kicks the PENALTY

Taute is penalised soon after the kickoff and Foley kicks it into touch on his own 10m line. The Tahs spread the ball to the backs but there is a break in play as Alofa Alofa is in pain with a knee problem.

The Stormers win their scrum on their own 10m and win it under massive pressure and Grant puts up an up-and-under, but Carr is penalised for being offside. Beale has a kick at goal from 45m and lands the PENALTY

The Tahs attack once more but a Kepu knock on gives the Stormers some respite.

The Waratahs start strongly and surge into the Stormers 22. Robinson runs strongly and then Beale goes close, but the Tahs are penalised just two metres from the line as Skelton enters the ruck from the side. The Stormers kick it out but lose the lineout

Foley gets the second half underway!

Sekope Kepu goes in from the side at the breakdown after the Tahs had won their own lineout ball, so the Stormers get the penalty and Taute will have a shot at goal from 52m out. The kick falls short and Beale boots it out for HALF-TIME. Just a conversion separates the two sides after forty minutes, in what has been an even game so far. Both sides have looked dangerous with ball in hand at times, but the defences have held up well, with just one try apiece scored. Join us in 10 minutes

The Tahs can attack now and they use the ball wisely, bursting up into the Stormers 22, until Dennis loses it forward. Stormers scrum 20m from their own line. Vermuelen is under big pressure at the back of the scrum but Demetri Catrakilis still manages to clear well

The Stormers have the ball once more as they kick it ahead towards the Tahs 22 and the home side wins it back. They send it wide but de Jongh wastes the possession and kicks the ball away into touch on the full

The Stormers steal the lineout and then Schreuder puts up a high ball and Carr wins the aerial challenge acrobatically, but a fellow Stormers can't gather the rebound. Tahs scrum, and Beale takes it to the gainline. Polota Nau gets the ball ripped from him and Grant boots it downfield and into touch. The Tahs take it quickly though, they are trying to speed up the play, and they break into the Stormers 22. Botha goes off his feet at the breakdown and it's a Tahs penalty just in front of the poles. Foley kicks the PENALTY

The Waratahs have a scrum on their own 22 and win a free kick for an early shove. Foley kicks deep but Taute returns the favour into touch

The Tahs knock on and the home side can attack once more but the ball gets turned over at the breakdown by Polota Nau and the Tahs tries to break out of their own 22, however a Stormers knock on in the tackle halts the play

Michael Rhodes wins the lineout ball and it goes to the backs again where Taute runs it up, and then Carr has a go. But it's a Stormers penalty for a high tackle from Kane Douglas and Grant lines up the shot at goal from the left hand side of the field, 30m out. He misses the kick and it bounces off the posts

The Stormers get another opportunity when Potgieter strays offside just after the kickoff and Grant finds touch just outside the Tahs 22.

Grant misses the conversion attempt

Brilliant TRY for the Stormers! They send it to the backs and de Jongh bursts straight through the midfield defence and draws the last defender to send Kobus van Wyk over for the five pointer!

Grant puts the ball into touch and sets up the lineout inside the Tahs 22. It's messy and Carr collects but he is forced to hold on by Tatafu Polota Nau. Beale clears after the lineout but he puts it out on the full. So it's a Stormers lineout 35m out

The Waratahs look to stroke back straightaway and Hooper runs strongly as the approach the Stormers 22, but the play breaks down when Benn Robinson knocks on

Botha wins the lineout on the 22 and they send it wide once more - but there is no advantage and the Stormers get a penalty for playing Botha in the air at the lineout. Grant lines up the kick from the left hand side 15m line and lands the PENALTY

The Stormers set up a lineout on the Tahs 10m line and win it through Botha. Juan de Jongh breaks in midfield before it is sent wide for Sailosi Tagicakibau. It's recycled and the home side build the phases. Michael Hooper steals the ball for the Tahs though and they can clear

Ruan Botha gets his hands to the Tahs lineout ball before Jacques Potgieter but he knocks it on. Scrum to the visitors 25m out and Carr tackles Nick Phipps and forces him to hold on

Skelton catches and they set the maul but it doesn't make any progress and the Stormers defend it well and win the scrum. Damien de Allende carries it up in midfield before Grant clears to just outside the 22

Stormers scrum just 10m out from their own line. Louis Schreuder launches the clearance but only finds touch just outside the 22. The Tahs runs it up through Beale and then Bernard Foley. Adam Ashley-Cooper now makes ground and they get a penalty for hands in the ruck. 5m lineout to the Tahs

Kurtley Beale kicks it away and Jaco Taute runs it back but loses it and Peter Betham kicks it through towards the Stormers line. Deon Fourie manages to get back and tidy up. The Waratahs get it back but Will Skleton knocks on

Peter Grant gets the action underway!

The teams make their way out onto the field. The visitors in their light blue jumpers led by Dave Dennis and the home side in their dark blue jerseys, led out by Duane Vermuelen - stand-in skipper in place of the injured Jean de VIlliers

It's a clear evening in Cape Town, so conditions shouldn't be a problem for either side

In their last meeting in Cape Town, the Stormers emerged 19-13 victors over the Waratahs in 2012.

The last encounter between these two sides took place in Sydney last year, which the Waratahs won 21-15 thanks to a late Israel Folau try.

The Stormers lost 17-22 against the Reds in Brisbane last week, and have won just one of their six games this season, but have only played at home once. The Waratahs have won three out of their five games and come into the match off the back of a 10-32 defeat at the hands of the Sharks in Durban last week.

Today's match sees the 14th placed Stormers hosting the 7th placed Waratahs with the hosts looking to get their campaign back on track after going winless on their four-match Australasian tour.
