The Sharks set up their lineout on the Cheetahs 22 and they win it before sending it wide for Mvovo to have a run inside the Cheetahs 22. Mtawarira drives it up well once more and the Ryan Kankowski charges up but the ball is stolen by Brussow and hacked ahead. But not very far as the Sharks can attack once more. Swiel lines up the kick from 33m out and misses the penalty. That is HALF-TIME as Chavanga limps off with a hamstring injury. It has been an absorbing half of rugby with a lot of intent shown by both sides but it has been a game unfortunately littered with errors and as a result neither side has managed to get a grip on the game. Tim Swiel kicks off and we are underway!

The teams are making their way out onto the field. The Cheetahs led by Adriaan Strauss and the Sharks by Bismarck du Plessis. We should be in for a great tussle between the two Springbok hookers.

The weather is clear and warm in Durban today and should be suited for running rugby

In their last five meetings, the Sharks have dominated proceedings and won four encounters. However in their last meeting, the Cheetahs emerged victorious 12-6 in Durban last year.

It seems as though Hennie Daniller will start at fullback for the Cheetahs and Willie le Roux will shift to the wing - a straight swop from what was announced mid-week. For the Sharks Jaco van Tonder has come onto the right wing after JP Pietersen pulled out of the game late on

The Sharks have had a better time of it and have lost just once in their seven games thus far – 19-23 against the Bulls at Loftus. In recent games the Durban-based side have beaten the Lions 25-12 and the Waratahs 32-10.

The Cheetahs come into the match off the back of a 31-52 loss at the hands of the Crusaders in Bloemfontein last week and will be desperate to improve their season record which stands at one win, one draw and six losses in eight games. Their only win was a 15-9 triumph over the Bulls back on February 21.

Today’s battle sees the combined conference-topping Sharks hosting the 14th-placed Cheetahs. With the third-placed Chiefs having lost 17-18 to the Crusaders today and the second-placed Brumbies enjoying their bye, the Sharks can go six points clear at the top should they win this game
