And that is the end of the game. The Rebels have won the game 30-23 in a highly entertaining and evenly contested fixture. one could say that the difference came from the kicking tee where O'Connor was spot on all night whereas the young Kyle Godwin didn't quite get it right. Great start to the tournament and join us tomorrow at the same time for the other Australian derby between the Brumbies and the Reds in Canberra.

74

PENALTY to the Rebels as the Force don't roll away. They have a shot and try and get seven points clear of the Force. O'Connor has kicked brilliantly this evening and gives the Rebels a bit more breathing space.

70

TRY for Richard Brown. The reserve looseforward comes on and makes an immediate impact as he bundles over from close range. The Force are back in this with still a man in the bin. Godwin kicks the CONVERSION for the Force.

63

The Rebels have just used their extra men beautifully out wide. They milk it a bit with the forwards and then it goes wide as O'Connor throws a beautifully weighted pass over the top to Richard Kingi who scores the TRY in the corner. O'Connor maintains his 100% record off the tee as he CONVERTS.

62

Alby Mathewson has be YELLOW-CARDED for a little bit of pushing and shoving. Really nothing in it and the Force are down to 14 players and they are on their own line.

60

The Rebels attacking hard as Lachie Mitchell hits the line at pace off a line-out in the Force 22. They put some good play together but are held-up by the Force over the line. Five-metre scrum to the Rebels with an extra man and the win a penalty and take a quick tap.

58

The Force again find a little bit of room on the outside but they can't use it and step in touch in the Rebels 22. Assistant Ref witnesses a bit of fighting and there is going to be a YELLOW-CARD for Chris Alcock for a forearm to the face. Force down to 14 men for ten minutes.

53

The Rebels hit back immediately through a PENALTY from O'Connor.

50

Another TRY for the Force as they score from a set-piece when they go left off the scrum and Mafi is found in space and has too much pace and dives over in the corner for his second. Tough kick for Godwin from his weaker side and it stays wide.

46

What a turn-over won by the Rebels as they have men over on the right and Kingi makes metres then slips a delightful ball to Hugh Pyle who goes over for the TRY without being touched. O'Connor kicks the CONVERSION.

44

The Force win a penalty on the Rebels line and they take a five metre scrum but the Rebels spoil the opportunity after a top scrum from the Force. Results in a line-out to the Rebels in their own 22 as they clear their lines.

42

O'Connor overcooks his kick into touch on the full and Christie busts off the line-out and Phipps carries it over his own line and the Force get a five metre scrum. They are putting a lot of pressure on the Rebels line.

41

We are underway for the SECOND-HALF as the Rebels restart the game.

40

The Rebels become their own worse enemy at the death in the first half as they had a great attacking opportunity but knock it on and the referee blows the end of the half. The Rebels will be the happier of the sides as they have managed to take the points on offer when they have been in the attacking positions whereas the Force have not taken all of their opportunities. Will be an interesting second-half as both sides have battled in certain areas. The Force have struggled in the line-out and the Rebels haven't been able to string enough fluency together when they have had the ball.

37

The Rebels are awarded another PENALTY as the Force are blown-up for not rolling away at the break-down. O'Connor kicks the goal and the Rebels are back within one point.

33

The Rebels are rewarded for their ambition as Ged Robinson goes over for a TRY after a clinical driving maul off the line-out. O'Connor kicks the extra two points. Rebels will be confident after that, first time on the attack and they score.

31

The Rebels attack deep into the Force half and win a penalty for offside at the break-down as Higginbotham comes on when the Rebels kick, a kickable penalty, to the corner.

27

TRY to the Force as they use the ball off the back of the five metre scrum and go left and Godwin holds up a few defenders and there is an overlap as Alfie Mafi gets over in the corner unopposed. Godwin pushes it wide. All Force in the first half an hour.

25

The game opens up as the Rebels try to attack from deep but cough it up and Stanley hacks forward and some resolute defence prevents Sam Wykes as he is held up over the line. 5 metre scrum for the Force

22

15 phases from the Force as they build up beautifully to the foiled illegally by Scott Higginbotham. YELLOW-CARD for Higginbotham for punching as Godwin kicks the PENALTY over and the Force go into a six point lead.

18

The Rebels have got a penalty and kick to the corner. The Force have battled at line-out time losing three throws of their own.

14

Force win a penalty for Higginbotham coming in the side. Force kick to the corner and have a line-out about 12 metres from the Rebels line.

11

O'Connor just shows a glimps of what he can do as he steps a couple and darts down the touch line. Maybe it's the corn rows that he has got going that will be the catalyst for him and the Rebels this season? Score remains 3-0 to the Force

5

PENALTY to the Force as they string some great play together to get a penalty right in front in the middle of the 22. Hands in the ruck is the reason and Godwin doesn't miss this time.

4

Kyle Godwin has a shot at goal for the Force but pulls it wide of the right-hand upright. Force on the attack in the opening exchanges of the game. Alfie Mafi very involved in the play as he comes off his wing to get involved.
