That's FULL-TIME at Suncorp Stadium and the Reds have managed to win the game by 8 points. The game threatened to open up completely but some errors throughout were the difference as the Waratahs couldn't string enough substance together often enough. If this game was next week it could have been a different story. The return fixture will be interesting. Join us later this evening for both Six Nations as well as The Sharks versus the Cheetahs and the Southern Kings versus The Force.

77

Game seriously opening up here as the Reds still showing some intentions to run the ball. The Tahs need the ball but they just can't get enough of it at the moment.

73

Phenomenal break from Eddie Quirk as he shrugs off a number of defenders from about 50 metres out and then has the presence of mind to pop it to Ben Tapuai who goes over for his second. Harris misses the conversion.

71

Reds loose-forwards starting to come into their own in the last 15 minutes of this game. Liam Gill all over the ball after a half break from Ben Volavola. Penalty to the Reds and they kick it into the Waratahs half.

69

Reds with a great counter ruck and turn the ball over when James Hansen picks it up. They win a penalty on the half-way line straight in front of the posts. Massive effort for him here. He kicks the PENALTY and the Reds are back in front 20-17 with 11 minutes to go.

65

Waratahs can clear their lines but not far at all but from the next play Quade Cooper spills it. Scrum to the Waratahs just outside their own 22 metre.

64

Reds get go forward and get close but it is spoiled when Quirk knocks it on 6 metres out. Scrum to the Waratahs.

62

Two penalties given away by the Waratahs in quick succession means that the Reds can now put some serious pressure on the Waratahs as they are just outside the Tahs 22.

59

Momentum well and truly with the Tahs now as Ben Volavola goes in for the TRY for the Waratahs. Did beautifully to get on the outside of Mike Harris and has a run into the left hand corner. Foley has kicked the CONVERSION and it's 17-17. Reds haven't scored a point in the second-half.

56

Game is starting to slow up a little. Think both sides are starting to get a little nervous going into the last quarter. A bit more kicking and a number of subs being made.

54

Waratahs with a great build-up as the momentum shifts towards the Tahs. They go through 15 phases and have two men over on the left but their hands let them down again. They just need to get their execution right.

52

The Tahs have a few phases but they cannot break the defence and they then don't have enough players at the break-down but the Reds turn it over and then lose it. Scrum Tahs on the Reds 10 metre line.

50

Massive scrum from the Waratahs and they win a penalty from the scrum. They get the ball out on the 10-metre line.

49

Cooper with a neat like dink through in the Waratahs 22. TMO adjudges that the ball was knocked on by Ben Volavola first so the Reds have a scrum 5 metres out right in the middle of the pitch.

45

Reds blown-up again for coming in the side. Finally the Waratahs are out of their own half but the throw has ball over the back and the Reds come back but lose it so the Tahs can attack again and an attempted intercept from the Reds bounces right back into Foley's hands who gives it to Folau who scores his first TRY for the Waratahs. The CONVERSION is good from Foley. 17-10 to the Reds now.

43

Waratahs blown-up for not rolling away at the break-down. Probably about 38 metres out on the angle. Harris hits the upright and Mitchell breaks for the Tahs.

42

The Waratahs set up a good scrum and build up well for the clearance kick but Foley slices it a bit and the Reds still remain in the Waratahs 22.

41

We have re-started at Suncorp as the Reds kick to the Waratahs. Off the kick the Waratahs spill the ball in midfield but the Reds use up all the advantage and then are blown up for an accidental obstruction. Waratahs scrum in their own 22.

40

The Waratahs have been their own worse enemies in this half as they haven't been able to finish it off. It's HALF-TIME at Suncorp with the Reds dominating but the Waratahs getting themselves into the game but not having that last pass or being able to hang on to the ball at that vital stage. It is their first game so the rust is expected against a side that played last week. Will be interesting to see how the teams come out in the second-half and whether the Reds will tighten up their play in order to cancel out all the errors they have made. They have got a good lead so it will be interesting to see how they play in the second-half. The Waratahs have to go all-out in order to win this so I don't see them changing much in the second-half.

39

The Reds take the ball off the Waratahs again and attack as they rumble into the Tahs 22 but spill it and the Waratahs can clear again, not far though.

39

Tahs kick it onto Harris whose attempted up-and-under goes straight out. Tahs with the attacking line-out in the Reds half.

37

Greg Holmes is blown-up at the scrum so the Waratahs take the penalty and kick the ball to the corner again about 6 metres out for the line-out. They drive from the Line-out but they cough it up again as the Reds break but they cannot use the advantage they had and ultimately Ben Lucas is tackled into touch. Waratahs ball between their 10 and 22.

35

Waratahs show a bit of patience as Lucas kicks it away for the Reds and Mitchell kicks a raking punt into the Reds 22 and the Reds lose the ball so the Tahs will have the scrum in the Reds 22.

32

Reds clear their lines but are still under pressure with the Waratahs getting the feed to the line-out just outside the Reds' 22.

31

Cooper's kick is charged down by Kane Douglas as him and Cooper go toe to toe in a foot race and they both dive at the ball on the Reds line but the TMO decides it was lost forward by Douglas so it's a 5-metre scrum to the Reds.

30

Far too many handling errors from both sides as they can't gain too much momentum when they have the opportunity. Waratahs move into the Reds half with a penalty.

28

Waratahs change it up as Foley puts the little chip through but Adam Ashley-Cooper gets taken out off the ball by Mike Harris. McKibben has a shot from straight in front. He misses a fairly straight-forward effort.

26

Cooper showing a little bit of magic in the game as he plays a little ball out the back door as the Reds continue their relentless attack. Seems a little static as they head into their 16th phase and concede a penalty for obstruction.

24

Reds with the scrum and they attack as Cooper puts a sneaky grubber through but is read well by Folau who gives it to Foley who clears to the 10 metre line.

23

The Waratahs seem rattled at the moment as they win a turnover in their own 22 and try and clear but McKibbin only manages to kick it into his own player's head and Mike Harris just misses dotting down the try. There is no advantage as the Reds win a scrum in the Tah's 22 in the middle of the field.

22

Finally we have a break in the game. The Waratahs get the ball off the field. The Reds on the attack again.

20

Their great attacking endeavors has lead to a penalty and they go straight to the corner. They feel a momentum shift here but they can't control their line-out and lose the ball forward but they are still in the Reds half of the field but they give it away and the Reds break but they win it back in their own 22 and try and run it back.

19

Now the Tahs are starting to play some better rugby as they string some phases together and are keeping it alive with a lot of pops off the deck. Heading into the plus 10 phases territory as they keep hammering away in the Reds 22.

16

The Waratahs have finally got something back as the Reds are blown up for coming in the side of the ruck and McKibbin pushes the kick from about 40 metres out. Tahs need to take all their opportunities at the moment.

13

Israle Folau has had a very shaky start to his Super Rugby career as he coughs the ball up and the Reds counter-attack. They are building up beautifully and head over 10 phases. They are a few metres out and they win a PENALTY straight in front of the posts. Harris kicks the ball over and the Reds continue their dominance.

10

The Waratahs really throwing the ball around and getting some serious go forward but that ends with Ben Tapuai taking the interception with open arms and runs 60 metres for the Reds' second TRY. Harris kicks the CONVERION and it's 14-3 to the Reds.

8

Tahs win the ball back off the restart but cough it up with a great attacking opportunity. The Reds manage to clear the ball as it hits Mitchell so they win the line-out.

5

Waratahs having a look when they have the ball in their own 22. They have been attacking well but resort to clearing their lines. The Reds have finally got their hands on the ball and they score their first TRY through Don Shipperley. Mike Harris with his first kick from the right-hand touchline. The CONVERSION is good and the Reds go into a 7-3 lead.

2

Waratahs with a patient build-up as they take the ball through a number of phases. Ends with the Reds being blown-up for not releasing the player on the ground. First shot at goal for Brendan McKibbin from about 26 metres on the angle. The PENALTY is over and the Tahs go into a 3-0 lead.

1

The Waratahs get us underway as Chris Pollock with his refcam gets us going. Reds playing from left to right.

1

Straight off the kick the Tahs manage to hold up Digby Ioane in his own 22 and win the scrum. Great attacking opportunity for the Tahs.

-5

Five minutes to go at Suncorp and it's a phenomenal evening with the possibility of a thunder storm as both sides take to the field.

-20

20 minutes away from kick-off at Suncorp Stadium as the Reds look to make it two wins from two but their bitter rivals the Waratahs will be hoping that they can give new coach Michael Cheika something to smile about and go back to New South Wales with a win against the old foe. Some massive match-ups and Israel Folau to watch out for.
