Ireland are penalised at the scrum and Australia kick it out to secure their victory and FULL TIME! A frustrating evening ends for Ireland and they will feel it was one of those days when not a lot when right for them. Australia though, will be ecstatic with a great win to relieve some pressure after a trying season. They were clinical and assured and earn a well deserved victory, backing up last week's triumph over Italy. Ireland think they have a try as Brian O'Driscoll plays a delightful inside ball to send the charging Sean Cronin over the line - but referee Chris Pollock wants to check a possible handling error and sure enough the TMO confirms there was a knock in the buildup.


The home side try to force an opening as they work the ball from side to side but their threat tapers out as a Ian Madigan pass doesn't go to hand


Ireland force a 5m scrum as they look to hit back quickly with just over 5 minutes remaining but they are penalised for illegal scrummaging from the front row and Australia earn some respite


The Australian front row is penalised at the scrum and Ireland take the penalty quickly as they try to force the pace, but they are stopped by what looks like a spear tackle from Tevita Kuridrani. The TMO agrees and the outside centre gets a RED CARD


The home side try to run the ball from their own half as time runs out but a knock on puts a halt to their efforts.

CONVERSION - Quade Cooper lands the sideline conversion


TRY - Australia win a lineout just 5m out and form a rolling maul, which keeps gaining momentum until it crashes over the line. Michael Hooper was at the back and has his second try


Australia are looking dangerous again as Quade Cooper pulls off a fancy chip kick in behind the defence and only an Irish knock on saves the home side as Wallabies were pouring through on the chase


They're made to regret their decision straightaway as their driving maul collapses and Australia earn a scrum. The matter is compounded when Mike Ross goes to ground at the scrum and the visitors are awarded a penalty


Ireland break out of their own half after a strong run from Ian Madigan, before they win a penalty. They turn down the three points and opt to kick for the corner as we enter the final twenty minutes

Ireland take a quick lineout from their penalty kick that found touch but it only leads to a knock on. Some frustration is starting to build for the hosts

TRY - And the pressure tells! Quade Cooper dances between Ian Madigan and Luke Marshall from the set scrum and dots down under the poles, he makes it look so easy.


Australia force a turnover at scrumtime and get the scrum feed for themselves as the pressure builds on Ireland.

Ian Madigan puts up a high up-and-under but Israel Folau takes very well and it allows Australia to launch a raid into the 22m area. They finally go wide and Quade Cooper spreads a great pass out to Nick Cummins who goes over in the corner. The TMO will decide if a try has been scored


Jonny Sexton has been replaced by Ian Madigan who gets us underway once more!


The home side launch another attack but a handling error brings HALF TIME. Jonny Sexton looks like he has a hamstring problem and seems doubtful for the second half. After a strong start from the Australia which saw them build a 15-3 lead, Ireland have come back into the match strongly, setting up an intriguing last forty minutes. Ireland are enjoying a lot of ball now as they batter away at Australia inside the visitors half. They win another breakdown penalty now, this time for Scott Fardy playing the ball on the ground. Jonny Sexton will have another shot at goal, this one from just over 25m out

Ireland have come alive now as a great break from Fergus McFadden ignites their charge. Michael Hooper puts a stop to it though, illegally so says referee Chris Pollock and they have a penalty. YELLOW CARD - Hooper is sent to the sin bin for his efforts and his team's repeated infringements.

Ireland keep the ball through multiple phases on Australia's line until they force a penalty. It's in front of the poles though and captain Paul O'Connell points to the posts


Australia concede a free-kick at the scrum, and the hosts ask them to pack down again for another scrum.


Ireland come fighting back yet again and build good momentum in the Australian 22 until a big hit from Matt Toomua forces a knock on 5m out


TRY - Australia are finding holes in the Irish defence with ease! The visitors work the ball through the hands to the left hand side of the field before Scott Fardy makes a good break and fires a reverse pass to the onrushing Michael Hooper. Quade Cooper misses the conversion

Ireland come storming back after a good break from Tommy Bowe and win a penalty for a deliberate Scott Fardy knock down

Both countries come into this game off the back of strong wins last week. Ireland defeated Samoa 40-9, while Australia hammered Italy 50-20


The last time Ireland hosted Australia in a Test match it ended in a 20-20 draw at Croke Park


These two teams have not met since the pool stage clash in the 2011 Rugby World Cup which Ireland won 15-6 at Eden Park in Auckland.
