They go wide to Zebo who is brought down by Hougaard but Pienaar goes offside so Ireland set up the line-out just short of halfway. It goes to the backline and O'Gara tries a chip over the top. Pietersen claims it and takes it into touch to bring the game to an end. A narrow victory for the Springboks who beat the hosts 13-0 in the second half to get their tour off to a winning start.

The Bok front row is penalised this time so Sexton sets up a line-out near the 22 as Ireland look for a late win. Healy makes good ground and goes over the 22 as the Bok defence is tested. they go wide to Zebo who is wrapped up quickly. It has been 11 phases but they are still outside the 22 and the Boks finally win the crucial turnover, great defence.

Pienaar hoists and Kirchner competes but loses it forward so Ireland have a scrum in Bok territory. It is another big scrum from the Boks but they get it away. A loose pass goes astray but there was a South African hand on it so Ireland have another scrum.

It is a massive scrum from the Boks and they buckle the Irish to win a penalty in front of the poles. Lambie slots the PENALTY to make it 16-12.

It is another maul and it is brought down by Ireland. The Boks take a quick tap and they are right there. Pienaar spots a gap and dives over under the poles. They go to the TMO and he confirms the TRY. Lambie adds the CONVERSION to make it 12-10.

They set the maul and gets some momentum going as they approach the tryline. Strauss is stopped just short but Ireland were offside again and Heaslip is shown a YELLOW CARD for repeated infringements. Big opportunity for the boks to get back into it.

Lambie gets the second half underway and it is lost forward by Tommy Bowe. Pienaar breaks away on the counter and the Irish fail to roll away so Lambie sets up an attacking line-out.

Ireland have one last chance before the break but Louw forces another turnover. De Villiers takes it quickly as the Boks barge over halfway. They go wide to Taute and the Irish go offside again so Pienaar will take a long range crack at goal from eight metres behind halfway on the left. He comes up short and that is half-time. The Boks have some serious work to do in the second half if they want to get back into this game. No tries yet but it has been all Ireland who lead 12-3. Join us in ten minutes for the second half.

Although it is quite cold at the Aviva Stadium it is dry at this stage so conditions look good as the teams make their way onto the pitch.

An added challenge for the Boks will be the new laws which they will be playing under. There is a new scrum call and teams have to use the ball within five seconds at a ruck. The Irish players have all been playing with the new laws so the Boks will have to adapt quickly.

Both teams have been hit hard by injury this year, with senior players missing on both sides. So it will be a serious test of depth with plenty of pressure on the younger players.
