Minute Commentary

WP, despite playing almost 50 minutes with just 14 men, hang on and remain unbeaten. Thanks for joining us and be sure to catch all our live coverage next weekend.

It's a penalty for the Blue Bulls though for foul play prior to the pass. The hosts tap and go but Willemse knocks on and WP hoof it into touch. That's it!

The Blue Bulls get a free kick at the scrum so they have one last go. Venter does well to brush off Van den Heever and Aplon to score but the try is disallowed - it was a forward pass.

The Blue Bulls come again, giving the ball width, but Mastriet knocks on in contact.

TRY! The Blue Bulls throw caution to the wind and it's Bullbring who scores from close quarters but is it too little too late? Pollard can't add the extras.

The Blue Bulls are back to 15 men but they make a meal of the line-out. WP show their willingness to run, they don't just want to run down the clock, and they're rewarded with a penalty. Van Aswegen kicks the PENALTY and that could be the ball game!

The Blue Bulls butcher it as Venter knocks on and Groom makes them pay with a massive touch finder.

Kitshoff wins a turnover for WP only for Groom to knock-on on the WP 22. Good opportunity for the Blue Bulls here.

The Blue Bulls are pinged at the ensuing scrum so Van Aswegen, on in place of Coleman, steps up and slots the PENALTY!

WP looking the better side at the moment with both teams down to 14 but a knock-on halts their momentum.

The Blue Bulls' discipline again lets them down as Engelbrecht is YELLOW CARDED for a high tackle on De Allende. Coleman's kick misses off the upright.

Van den Heever shows great commitment under the high ball but goes down hard after a midair collision with Ndungane. Willemse comes in from the side and takes out Carr but it's a penalty only.

The Blue Bulls maul it up from the line-out. Willemse stretches to score but loses the ball forward and the hosts concede a free kick at the resulting scrum so it's a let off for WP.

PENALTY! Liebenberg is caught offside at the ruck, gifting three points to WP.

The Blue Bulls win a scrum penalty and turn down an easy three points. The decision is vindicated as Ross stretches over in the tackle and scores his first Currie Cup TRY! Pollard kicks the CONVERSION!

Pollard starts the second stanza. Will 14-man WP be able to hang on or will the Blue Bulls rally back and capitalise on their numerical advantage? Coleman knocks on from the kick-off so it's a poor start for WP.

Willemse loses the ball in contact and that's HALF-TIME! WP lead 20-6 but are down to 14 men.

TRY! 14-man WP score through De Allende! The big centre kicked into space for Kolbe who collected and passed back inside for De Allende. Coleman adds the CONVERSION!

Mbonambi wins a breakdown penalty as Fuzani leaves the field after making some massive hits. The Blue Bulls go through 10 phases but WP's defence is resolute and ultimately a pass from Paige drifts forward. Rhodes, however, is RED CARDED for kicking Ross in the face.

Rhodes fails to roll away after the Blue Bulls built momentum on attack and this time Pollard lands the PENALTY!

PENALTY! WP win a penalty at scrum time with a power scrum and Coleman raises the flags.

Pollard misses a second penalty after Fuzani was caught offside.

Paige executes a pinpoint box kick that sees WP take the ball into touch.

Murray nearly intercepts as WP look to free up space but a knock-on slips in.

Several WP players are caught in front of the kicker but Pollard pulls an easy penalty.

WP hit back with the opening TRY by Aplon, who ran a great angle after sustained phase play. Coleman adds the CONVERSION!

The Blue Bulls snatch the line-out and Pollard pops over a DROP-GOAL!

Van der Merwe rips a turnover and Pollard kicks into space but WP counter and work their way back into the 22. A chip by Coleman results in Hattingh breaking free and running all of 80 metres but he is tackled into touch just before dotting down by De Allende. He had Ndungane in support and should have passed.

WP immediately attack with pace and impressive fluency, stringing together 17 phases. It's good defence by the Blue Bulls but they are blown up so Coleman kicks the PENALTY to put WP on the board.

Coleman gets the match underway.

It's a perfect afternoon in Pretoria as the teams make their way on to the field. Beyers has succumbed to injury so Murray starts in midfield with Small-Smith coming on to the bench.

The hosts have made three changes with Beyers, Paige and Du Plessis, while Steenkamp captains WP in place of the injured Fourie. Fuzani will make his Currie Cup debut at lock with Rhodes filling the void at flank.

The teams find themselves on opposite ends on the log but they were deadlocked 24-all in their first-round encounter. Who will come away with the points this afternoon?

Welcome as we await the kick-off of the traditional north-south derby between the Blue Bulls and WP at Loftus.
