Minute Commentary

Up next we bring you live coverage of the clash between the Sharks and Western Province.

The Cheetahs almost score straight from the restart with Pretorius kicking ahead and Ebersohn claiming the ball before the centre knocks on in contact. The Bulls knock-on from the scrum so that's FULL-TIME! The Cheetahs are in the semis courtesy of a 22-7 win!

Strauss shows some impressive soccer skills to fly hack a rolling ball ahead, scoop up the ball and beat Bok teammate Engelbrecht to score the TRY! The conversion is wide.

The error count continues to mount for the Bulls as Du Plessis knocks on.

The Cheetahs win the line-out and surge into the 22 where the Bulls get the turnover. They counter and Schalk van der Merwe is YELLOW CARDED for a dangerous tip tackle.

Labuschagne makes a solid run and finds Pretorius who links up with Goosen. The Bok flyhalf is tackled a metre short and offloads back to Labuschagne but the pass is forward. The scrum continues to be a mess and the Bulls are given the penalty.

Pressure by the Cheetahs at scrum time results in a knock-on by the visitors before the Bulls concede a set-piece penalty as the lock continues to click away.

Van finds touch near halfway and makes inroads on attack before Jacobs is caught ball and all by Van Zyl. It's a knock-on by Van Zyl in the tackle as Goosen makes his surprise comeback from injury.

The Bulls win another scrum penalty and the Cheetahs receive a warning. It's a poor through by Nbonambi, though, and the Cheetahs kick down field. The Bulls run it back but the Cheetahs win a scrum feed in the tight loose.

Little Blommetjies is caught ball and all and is held up inside the Cheetahs 22 so the hosts win back possession.

The Bulls win a scrum penalty but battle to win their line-out. Strauss knocks on but a big Cheetahs scrum sees the ball pop out and Van Zyl grubbers into touch.

Pollard's restart is out on the full so the Bulls' woes continue.

Watts is the magic man again as he plucks an intended chip over the top by Serfontein out of the air and runs in a 50-odd metre TRY. He adds the CONVERSION!

The Bulls driving maul is stopped dead so Pollard goes to his backline only for Blommetjies to knock-on. The visitors are awarded a scrum penalty and the Bulls take it quickly but Oosthuizen steals the ball and Watts clears.

The Bulls win the line-out and Paige goes high. Rhule fields but Mbonambi wins a turnover penalty.

The Bulls stick to their route one offence and Willemse is blown up at the breakdown. No deception or creativity at all.

The Cheetahs go through the motions with ball in hand, not showing much intent, and the Bulls subsequently win a defensive penalty.

Pretorius shows-and-goes and nearly slices through. He offloads to Sadie who can't hold on. Crucial tackle by Van der Merwe.

Watts gets the second half underway with the Bulls - still reduced to 14 - staring down the barrel in terms of making the semis.

The Bulls take a quick tap and Van der Merwe scores the TRY from close quarters. Pollard adds the CONVERSION and that's HALF-TIME! The Cheetahs lead 10-7!

The Cheetahs opt for a line-out and make a complete meal of the set-piece to gift the Bulls possession. Engelbrecht makes a strong run and cops a high tackle from Strauss. It's just a penalty.

Mbonambi's throw is skew so the Cheetahs come away with the ball. Watts kicks, perhaps not the right tactic given the Bulls are down to 14. The Bulls string together 12 phases to enter the 22 where Basson knocks on.

The Cheetahs breakaway and Pretorius is just brought down on the Bulls 22. Ross comes in from the side and Paige clings on to the ball and tempers flare. Paige is YELLOW CARDED but the penalty is reversed for retaliation by Oosthuizen.

Visser slices through the Cheetahs defence and is brought down in the 22 where the hosts are penalised. The Bulls take it quickly but the Cheetahs come away with the ball and Watts does well to scoop up a rolling pass and find touch.

The Cheetahs attack with width but the Bulls hold firm. Watts chips in frustration but Visser is in position to field and kick down field where Watts catches and clears.

The Bulls secure the line-out but spill the ball forward in the driving maul - elementary mistake there - and concede a penalty at the resulting scrum.

Nyakane is penalised for obstruction so the Bulls set-up the line-out. The driving maul is stopped dead but Prinsloo is pinged at the breakdown.

The Bulls string together 10 phases but are too predictable, making it easy for the Cheetahs on defence. Pollard sees a half gap but knocks on.

The Cheetahs are blown up for side entry and given the objective, the Bulls predictably kick to the corner.

The Bulls retain possession from an up-and-under to win ground before Pollard links up with Serfontein but the Bok centre knocks on.

The Bulls have a chance to attack but Pollard kicks away possession and Watts finds touch with a booming kick.

It's a powerful Cheetahs scrum with Rhule hitting up the ball. It goes wide where Basson intercepts but he was offside, so Watts slots the PENALTY!

The Cheetahs are on fire and oh so nearly score their second but Prinsloo is held up over the line.

Watts makes amends with a fantastic linebreak and pass to an unmarked Ebersohn who gets the TRY, with Watts adding the CONVERSION.

Willemse is caught offside but Watts misses the target again.

The Cheetahs spread the Bulls' defence and get the penalty - side entry by the visitors. Watts steps up but pushes the kick to the right.

Du Plessis knock on in contact and the Cheetahs look to take advantage of the turnover but Benjamin knocks on.

Pollard gets us underway in Bloemfontein!

It’s a warm, dry day but a gusting wind will make for difficult goal-kicking conditions.

The Cheetahs need just a solitary log point to reach the semifinals while the Bulls have to get a full house, beat the Cheetahs by more than 22 and as alluded to, deny the hosts a bonus point.

It’s all to play for as the Free State Cheetahs host the Blue Bulls.
