-5

As in last night's season-opener a small crowd is in attendance. That won't effect the on-field action, though, and we're expecting a number of big hits and an entertaining spectacle.

-10

For the Cheetahs it will come down to how they cope without their senior players. With Oosthuizen and Strauss unavailable, they will need the likes of Lappies Labuschagne to step up and fulfil the ball-carrying role or they could get trapped behind the gainline and forced to abandon their natural attacking game.

-15

The big talking points are how will the Golden Lions cope with the pressure that comes along with being defending champions? They have a point to prove with their Super Rugby spot in doubt and a loss at home first up would be devastating.

-20

The Cheetahs are without top stars such as captain Adriaan Strauss, fetcher Heinrich Brussow and loosehead Coenie Oosthuizen. Flyhalf Johan Goosen is also still on the sidelines and is set to return in September. Robert Ebersohn takes over the captaincy and his first assignment at the helm is a tricky one away from home.

-25

The Golden Lions begin the defence of their title in turmoil. Gone is John Mitchell, who led them to the silverware last week. A beardless Josh Strauss has stepped down as captain and has switched to flank, which sees Derick Minnie move to eight.
