Sitting side by side in the Millennium Stadium clinic, after a massive collision forced them both out of the test match between Wales and Australia Stirling Mortlock and Jamie Roberts shared a great sporting moment by exchanging match jerseys.
The two powerful centre’s clashed in the second minute of the game in Cardiff and while the original impact seemed to take more of a toll on the Wallaby captain, forcing him to leave the pitch immediately, it emerged later that Roberts had in fact suffered a fractured skull as a result of the coming together.
Talking on Tuesday about the incident Mortlock revealed that he could not actually recall the incident but that he and Roberts had still been able to exchange match jersey’s while layed out in the Clinic at the Millennium Stadium.
"I was concussed and I can’t remember the actual collision," he explained.
"I was going for the interception and we are both big men.
"It was a massive collision, and quite unique in that somebody suffered an unusual injury.
"I have spoken to Jamie as we were sitting side by side in the Millennium Stadium clinic.
"We swapped jerseys down there and that was a good moment. I wish him all the best in his recovery."
Ok, that's kind of cool. Round of applause to both great blokes Mr Mortlock and Mr Roberts. Speedy recovery to you both!
