'Infamous Four' named and shamed

Tue, 24 Jun 2008 11:43

An English newspaper has finally revealed the four England players alleged to have been caught up in rape and sexual assault allegations in New Zealand.

The Sun named Danny Care, David Strettle, Topsy Ojo and Mike Brown as the four players believed to have been involved in the sex scandal in Auckland the night after the first Test against the All Blacks.

The four have followed legal advice not to speak with New Zealand police, though are declaring their innocence which is being backed by England management.

The England squad arrived at Heathrow on Monday, whilst police in Auckland are still investigating "serious" allegations. No formal complaint however has yet been laid.

AAP quoted a source as saying, "The players involved feel under pressure and angry. They are single guys who said they did nothing wrong.

"Players who had nothing to do with it are furious too. The whole squad feels it will stay under a shadow until the air is cleared."
