The French Rugby Federation (FFR) on Saturday appointed Pierre Camou as its interim president to replace Bernard Lapasset who left at the start of the year.
Camou is the current FFR vice-president, but will take the reins until the federation's general assembly in Paris on December 20.
Lapasset had been the FFR boss since 1991 but left in January to become the president of the International Rugby Board (IRB), the sport's global governing and law-making body.
A banker by profession, the 62-year-old Camou received the full backing of the federation's 27 members attending the assembly.
