Nominees for LNR awards

The Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR), the body running professional rugby in France, has named the nominees for its fifth awards function, la Nuit de Rugby, to be held on 22 September for the 2007-08 season.

There are two new awards - one for the  best try as voted by internet users and the selection by coaches of the best XV of the year.

All three of the Top 14 best players nominated are from abroad - Hernández from Argentina, Kelleher from New Zealand and Vosloo from South Africa.  Of the best-player nominees from Pro D2, only Chevchenko is French. Ai'i is from New Zealand and Suta comes from the Pacific Island group of Wallis & Futuna.

The nominees are:

Best Player in Top 14: Juan Martin Hernández (Stade Français), Byron Kelleher (Toulouse), Gerhard Vosloo (Brive)
Best Player in  Pro D2: José Suta (Toulon), Brice Chevchenko (Narbonne), Orene Ai'i (Toulon)
Revelation of the season: Napolioni Nalaga (Clermont) Yann David (Bourgoin), Maxime Médard (Toulouse)
Best international: Vincent Clerc (Toulouse), Lionel Nallet (Castres), Thierry Dusautoir (Toulouse)
Best coaching staff in Top 14: the coaching staff of  Clermont, the coaching staff of Montauban, the coaching staff of  Toulouse
Best coaching staff in Pro D2: the coaching staff of  Lyon, the coaching staff of  Mont-de-Marsan, the coaching staff of  La Rochelle
Best Referee: Romain Pote, Christophe Berdos, Joël Jutge

There will also be an award to the Top 14 champions, the Pro D2 champions and the best crowd.
