Under-fire Pumas bench Leguizamon

Thu, 24 Jun 2010 12:36

Pumas head coach Santiago Phelan has confirmed his starting lineup to play against France on Saturday in Buenos Aires, making three changes to the side that lost to Scotland last weekend.

The most notable of the changes sees loose-forward Juan Manuel Leguizamon replaced by Alejandro Campos in the Pumas back-row. Leguizamon has paid the price for his poor performances in Argentinas' disappointing home series loss to Scotland.

In addition, scrumhalf Nicolas Vergallo and wing Rafael Carballo come in for Agustin Figuerola and Horacio Agulla, who like Leguizamon, will be on the substitutes bench.

"This week we've been very concentrated and hope we can put what we've been doing in training into practice on the pitch," said Campos, who plays his club rugby in France with Montauban.

Argentina and France will meet for the 43rd time, with the French winning on 31 occasions, Argentina on 10 and with one draw.

Argentina:15 Martín Rodríguez, 14 Lucas González Amorosino, 13 Gonzalo Tiesi, 12 Santiago Fernández, 11 Rafael Carballo, 10 Felipe Contepomi, 9 Nicolás Vergallo, 8 Juan Martín Fernández Lobbe, 7 Alejandro Campos, 6 Genaro Fessia, 5 Patricio Albacete, 4 Manuel Carizza, 3 Martín Scelzo, 2 Mario Ledesma, 1 Rodrigo Roncero.
Replacements:16 Agustín Creevy, 17 Marcos Ayerza, 18 Juan Figallo, 19 Mariano Galarza, 20 Juan Manuel Leguizamón, 21 Agustín Figuerola, 22 Horacio Agulla.
