Mauger may have 'unfinished business'

Wed, 13 Jan 2010 10:34

Leicester Tigers boss Richard Cockerill has, for the first time, conceded that the Guinness Premiership club may well lose Aaron Mauger at the end of the season.

Mauger, currently one of two Tigers vice-captains in Cockerill's table-topping squad, has yet to make a final decision about where his future lies but is known to be one of a couple of players which the All Blacks management are desperately keen to lure back to New Zealand.

While the 46-time capped All Black is believed to be very happy at Welford Road the prospect of playing in a World Cup in his home country in 2011 is one which Cockerill himself concedes could convince him to head home.

"Aaron is a class player and I would understand why New Zealand would want him. There is no definite decision been made either way, really," said Cockerill to the Western Mail.

"I think that little bit of unfinished business, and with the World Cup being in New Zealand, that may tip it, but we will have to see."
