What a Saturday! Tests from Padua to Salt Lake City, from Moscow to Santiago. Sadly the weather was not always cooperative - except of course at Millennium Stadium which makes its own weather. And there is more next week.

The International Rugby Board (IRB) council, at its recent special meeting in Hong Kong, reaffirmed its commitment to the global trial of the Experimental Law Variations (ELVs) that will commence on August 1 and called for an early review of the trials in the first quarter of 2009.

Three IRB tournaments ended this weekend. In Wakes New Zealand won the inaugural Junior World Championship, in Chicago England Saxons won the Churchill Cup and in Romania Emerging South Africa - whatever that is - won the Nations Cup.
