New advances in SA commercial arm

Tue, 01 Jul 2008 14:27

South African (SA) Rugby has announced the appointment of a new commercial manager, who will take up the position with immediate effect.

Khaya Mayedwa of TOTAL will be the new commercial manager of SA rugby. Mayedwa has 11 years experience in retail marketing and strategy for TOTAL (the petroleum and oil company) behind him, and has also worked as an actuarial consultant.

Managing director of SA rugby, Jonathan Stones, applauded the calibre of SA rugby's newest recruit.

"Khaya has a fine pedigree and extensive experience in commercial relations," said Stones.

"He was a stand-out candidate during the selection process and I am very pleased that he has joined us, he added.

Mayedwa (33) will complete his Masters in Business Leadership this year. He already holds a B. Comm  Honours degree in Marketing Strategy from the University of the Western Cape.

Mayedwa's core responsibilities will include relationship management with sponsors, and building SA Rugby’s commercial base.
