Bok Bekker comes to Kenya's aid

Thu, 17 Jul 2008 15:27

Hennie Bekker, a 1981 Springbok and father of current Bok lock Andries Bekker, has arrived in Kenya to help their national team prepare for their Africa zone qualifying matches for the 2011 World Cup.

Bekker and Cape Town-based Stormers conditioning coach Greg Douglas Hecter will take part in a week-long training stint with the national side.

"Bekker is one of the most respected names in Rugby in South Africa and he has accepted to come to Kenya together with Douglas to help our 15-a-side get ready for the trip to Tunis," said Kenya Rugby Football Union (KRFU) chief Sasha Mutai.

Kenya, who are due to play Tunisia on August 2, over the weekend beat Cameroon 76-8 in Nairobi, one of their biggest wins in the recent years.
