Bok prop cited for head-butt

Sat, 23 Aug 2008 20:46

Springbok prop CJ van der Linde and Wallaby flank Rocky Elsom were both cited for dangerous play following Saturday's Tri-Nations match between South Africa and Australia in Durban.

Van der Linde was spotted diving head-first into Aussie scrumhalf Sam Cordingley in a dangerous attempt to clear him from a ruck.

The Bok prop was penalised by New Zealand referee Lyndon Bray for the offense, but received no yellow card after the offence occurred eight minutes into the match.

Elsom faces a SANZAR Disciplinary Committee hearing after being cited by Citing Commissioner Steve Hinds of New Zealand for tackling the jumper (Victor Matfield) in the air, four minutes after the half-time interval.

Both men will appear before judicial officer Nick Davidson QC (New Zealand) at the offices of the KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union at 09.00 local time on Monday.
