We are looking for a talented, energetic, bright young rugby writer to work in a fun rugby environment - this is your chance to live the dream and work in the sport you love!
rugby365.com, South Africa's leading rugby website, is looking for a junior rugby writer, with the ambition - and hunger - to grow into a top level South African-based rugby/sports journalist.
You must have a good understanding and insight into the game of rugby, as well as being committed and hard-working.
You will be assisting in producing original content - interviews, comments pieces, match reports - and also researching articles, sub-editing wire copy, rewriting stories, editing pictures and updating the website on a daily basis.
Requirements:
- Some journalism work experience
- Excellent knowledge of South African rugby - overseas rugby knowledge would be
a bonus
- Understanding of the media landscape in SA
- Understanding of the online environment
- An excellent command of the English language (and thereby excellent writing and spelling skills)
- Computer literate
- Journalism diploma/degree an advantage
Personal skills/attributes:
- Hard-working - able to work long hours; especially weekends (with time off in lieu)
- Attention to detail
- Fast learner and enthusiastic
- Work well under pressure
- Strong communication skills
- Work well as part of a team
