Schools Results - 3 May

Mon, 05 May 2008 18:16

What a disjoined term! There was an unusually early Easter and then two long weekends heaped one on the other. This reduced schools rugby to a few matches, one a stunning affair in the Midlands.

The match between Hilton and Michaelhouse, this time a thriller at Hilton before the usual, huge, festive crowd, a great social occasion.

With five minutes to go Dave Strachan of Michaelhouse scored in the corner to level the scores at 18-all.. The missed conversion left the at 18-18 with five minutes remaining.

In those five minutes Hilton missed a penalty but Ruan Combrinck goaled one to give the visitors the match.

In Pretoria, at Tukkies' LC de Villiers ground, Monnas and Eldoraigne played their way into the final of the Super 16.

On Saturday in the NuPower-Tuks series, EG Jansen and Monnas won semfinals.

We give the results we have. If there are others which are not here, please, send them to Pauld@365digital.co.za.

There is a heap of four public holidays in Japan, too, at this time, producing Golden Week and the Sanix World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament, the ninth in the series. Glenwood of Durban did South Africa proud, winning the final 39-0.
