Bok lock calls it quits

Tue, 13 May 2008 10:46

Springbok and Cheetahs lock Barend Pieterse will retire after the Currie Cup this year.

Pieterse will explain his reasons for his shock retirement on OFM radio's Sports Cage on Tuesday.

During the radio interview Pieterse will also say whether he will be available for the Springbok
training squad to be announced on Saturday.

The 29-year-old made his Springbok debut against the Barbarians during last year's end of year tour, making the timing of his retirement all the more strange.

In a short statement on Tuesday morning, OFM reported business and injury reasons for the early retirement.
