ON THE EDGE
Bobby's big 'secret'
Mon, 02 Jul 2012 09:02
Former Springbok captain Bobby Skinstad, now a television commentator, may have produced some pearlers on the field, but he is not always as sharp in front of the microphone.
Skinstad, who captained South Africa 12 times in his 42 Tests, felt the need to share a little 'secret' with the world, while commentating on the Stormers versus Lions Super Rugby match at the weekend.
Speaking about the Lions's caretaker coach Johan Ackermann, Skinstad said his remark was "completely off the record", but then proceeded to inform millions of TV viewers that Ackermann was "the strongest human being I ever encountered".
Skinstad may have been 'off the record', but he was very clearly not 'off the air'.
For the 'record' Bobby, we heard you!
