For a player who has literally done it all in rugby, All Black captain Richie McCaw says he still has plenty to keep him motivated.

For one, he feels he has still not played a perfect game.

So what is the perfect game?

McCaw admits that is a good question.

"I judge it by not how much you do, but how well you do it," McCaw told rugbynews.co.nz.

"What I pride myself on is being consistently at a level that is good.

"If you keep turning up and doing that, then you have an opportunity to have an influence on things.

"You might create a turnover that is the difference between winning and losing or you might do a ball carry that gets a guy into the game to score a try.

"That’s what you always want to do."
