Peyper scoops awards

SARU held its lavish Awards banquet at the Execujet Hangar at Cape Town International Airport on Thursday night, and both referees awards went to Jaco Peyper.
And his golden year is not yet at an end.
So far this year he has refereed Super Rugby, six Test matches and the Currie Cup Final. He is one of nine referees worldwide on the IRB's merit panel and he has two Tests to come this month - Romania vs Japan in Bucharest and Ireland vs Argentina in Dublin. It has been an astonishing year for the 32-year-old lawyer from Bloemfontein.
There were two awards for referees at SARU's Awards banquet - the Marriott Referee of the Year Award and the Marriott Referees' Referee of the Year Award.
The Referees' Referee award is always most pleasing to the referee as it depends on the votes of his peers - the 16 referees on top panels in South Africa. They voted, by an overwhelming majority, for Jaco Peyper who was also chosen as the Referee of the Year.
All of this must leave Peyper wondering what could get better after 2012!
