Bok lock commits to Wasps

London Wasps lock Marco Wentzel has signed a contract extension in the same week that the club have signed Kearnan Myall from Sale Sharks for next season.
The re-signing of Wentzel and the capture of Myall ensure that London Wasps will be choosing from an exceptionally strong pool of second row talent for next season, with options also including England stars Joe Launchbury and Tom Palmer alongside James Cannon, who has been one of the most improved players at the Club over the past year.
Wentzel, who is capped for South Africa, and Myall, who has represented England Saxons, are two of the shrewdest line-out operators in England.
The duo are currently the top two line-out ball winners in the Premiership according to Opta, the official statistics provider for Premiership Rugby.
London Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “Marco has been a huge performer for us over the past two seasons and continues to be a real leader for us at the line-out and it’s great to have him on board next season again.”
“Kearnan is someone who has been an ever-present for Sale and someone who has really impressed us. I believe he is a player who has the potential to go further in his career and earn greater international recognition.
“Second row is a real physical position and there’s a long season there, so making sure we had a very strong mix in this area was important to us and we’ve got that now.”
