George Moala of the Blues has been cited for alleged foul play during his team's 29-18 Super Rugby win over the Highlanders in Auckland on Friday.

Both Moala and the Highlanders' All Black centre Ma'a Nonu were yellow carded for dangerous tackles, but the citing official saw fit to cite only the Blues player.

The citing commissionar has 12 hours from the completuion oif the game and Nonu could have joined Moala i n the dock. However, he appears to have dogged a bullit.

Moala is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (e): Dangerous Tackling - when he tackled Highlanders wing Buxton Popoali'i.

The incident occurred in the 45th minute of the match at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.

The referee for the match, Steve Walsh, referred the incident to the TMO, who ruled that a yellow card should be issued.

Upon further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The citing is to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR duty judicial officer Nicholas Davidson.
