A spirited second-half comeback from Michaelhouse was not enough to beat an impressive Hilton side as they went down 43-34 in Balgowan on Saturday.
Hilton flew out into a comfortable lead 21-6 at half-time after they put the homeside under immense pressure in the opening stanza of the match.
Scrumhalf and captain Cameron Wright was once again superb for Hilton controlling the game with his mature head and accurate boot. Michaelhouse struggled to find an answer to the tireless work from the Hilton loosies on the deck who made ball retention very difficult for the hosts.
Michaelhouse came back in the second-half, playing a more accurate game and spurred on by a sizable home crowd. Try as they may, they just did not have enough firepower to pull back the Hilton lead and the match ended 43-34 to Hilton.
The result meant that the Hilton side ended off a successful season but the boys from Balgowan have battled through 2013 after a number of great years recently.
Hilton did the double over their rivals for the first time since 2006.
