Griquas coach Pote Human lauded his side for the character they showed to secure a bonus point against Western Province in Kimberley.

The home side had trailed by seven points at half-time, but fought hard right until the end, eventually coming up one point short as Province secured a 20-19 victory.

Human said that the character his side showed in the second half was extremely encouraging.

"I am very proud of the guys. They showed a lot of character to keep on fighting for that bonus point," Human said.

The Griquas boss said that his team's dominant performance in the set-pieces has given them vital confidence ahead of their trip to Bloemfontein where they will face the Cheetahs next week.

"We also did very well in the scrums and line-outs. We are happy to take this momentum to Bloemfontein next weekend to try and beat the Cheetahs there.

"We are targeting that game as one we must win," he added.
