Wallabies wing Lachie Turner has left the Waratahs and signed a two-year deal with the Reds.

Wallabies wing Lachie Turner has left the Waratahs and signed a two-year deal with the Reds.

After earning 71 Super rugby caps for the Sydney side and 15 Test caps for the Wallabies, Turner heads to Brisbane to further his career.

Reds head coach Graham said: "Lachie is a very good addition for the Reds and provides balance to our squad list. At 26-years-old, he has significant Super Rugby and international experience. He'll add quality to our outside backs and his speed is clearly an asset."

Turner commented: "After talking with Richard Graham one of the big attractions in signing with the Reds was the role he saw for me in helping Queensland reach its goal of winning another Super Rugby title.

"With the talent that the Reds already have and the strength of rugby in Queensland, it's not a matter of 'if' this happens but 'when' and it's something I want to be part of.

"The move north will provide some exciting opportunities for me that I hope will add to my game and help me add value to the Reds," h said.

Turner attended school at Newington College in Sydney’s inner-west. He played his junior Rugby for the Epping Rams before becoming an Australian Schoolboys representative in 2005.

He made a strong start to his professional career in 2006, his first year out of school, becoming the inaugural recipient of the Chris Whitaker award for the most outstanding player in the Waratah's Academy.

He then made his Super Rugby debut in 2007, followed by a starting debut for Australia A against Tonga where he scored three tries and was nominated man of the match.

The following year in 2008, Turner made his Wallabies debut at Suncorp Stadium against France.

Turner has gone on to represent Australia on 15 occasions scoring four tries, and has scored 25 tries across his 71 Super Rugby games.

He confirmed his standing as one of the fastest men in Australian rugby in September 2010 by winning an invitational event at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre against other sportsmen from a variety of professional sporting codes in Australia. Turner won the 100 metres race in a time of 11.10 seconds.
