Captaincy blow for Fiji
Fri, 29 Nov 2013 20:52
Fiji will be without regular captain Akapusi Qera and wing Michael Tagicakibau when they face a star-studded Barbarians side at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday.
The duo were recalled to their clubs, Gloucester and Saracens respectively.
This further depletes the squad after several key players returned to their clubs in France after playing in the first three November Tests.
As a result coach Inoke Male has named a relatively inexperienced side.
Nikola Matawalu will start at fullback, with British Army wing Sam Speight to make his debut in the No.11 jersey.
Levani Botia will partner Asaeli Tikoirotuma in the midfield.
Netani Talei has been bracketed at open side flank with Sam Matavesi, as he will feature for his Newport Dragons club on Friday and may still make the starting XV on Saturday.
Nemani Nagusa will take over the No.8 role, with Malakai Ravulo to complete the back row trio.
Leone Nakarawa joins Api Naikatini in the second row, with Manasa Saulo, Peni Ravai and Campese Ma'afu in the front row.
