London Wasps have moved to bring in experienced Australian scrumhalf Brett Sheehan until the end of the season.

London Wasps have moved to bring in experienced Australian scrumhalf Brett Sheehan until the end of the season.

Following Jack Moates' injury earlier this year, Dai Young has added to his options at No.9 with the signing of Sheehan from the Western Force until the end of the 2013/14 season.

Sheehan, who has seven Australian caps to his name, will join up with the squad next week.

The physical scrumhalf joined the Western Force in 2010 after six seasons with the Waratahs and made his last appearance for his country in 2012.

"We have been operating with only two first team scrumhalves in recent weeks, which clearly isn't enough," Director of Rugby Dai Young said.

"To be able to bring in someone with the experience that Brett has is brilliant.

"We have two talented young scrum halves here in Joe Simpson and Charlie Davies so Brett brings a great balance to that group and I have no doubt that his experience will be a benefit for those two, as well as Jack Moates as he continues his recovery from injury."

Sheehan said that having played all of his club rugby in Australia, it is great to be able to go overseas and experience a different league and a different brand of rugby.

"Since the move was suggested to me, I have been impressed with what Dai Young and his team are doing at Wasps," the scrumhalf said.

"The young players they have at the Club are very exciting and I hope that I can impart a bit of my experience during my time there; I can't wait to get going."
