All Black Brad Thorn is "helping" with the conditioning of the Highlanders and may turn to coaching.
Thorn revealed he is taking the lead in preparing the Highlanders for the upcoming Super Rugby season.
The lock forward, who turns 39 next week, said the franchise has allowed him to assist head trainer Andrew Beardmore with the gym work.
"Got to write the programmes and train them," Thorn said.
"It's been a good experience to have a bit of an impact on them in that department, the strength and power department."
Thorn said strength and conditioning work might be an option when he finishes his playing career.
