Queensland Rugby has reported a surplus before depreciation of $954,115 for the 2013 financial year, it was announced at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting at Ballymore on Saturday.
 

Queensland Rugby has reported a surplus before depreciation of $954,115 for the 2013 financial year, it was announced at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting at Ballymore on Saturday.

The final result of a surplus of $287,492 after depreciation is another strong result and follows an increase in Reds Memberships to a record 36,014 in 2013.

For the first time in 2013 Queensland became the leading state for rugby participation in Australia. Queensland Rugby grew its footprint in the community game and achieved a record national market share of 42.83%, according to the Australian Rugby Union's Annual Participation Census.

The record participation levels saw more than 259,000 rugby participants in Queensland in 2013, with highlights including a 62% rise in Sevens participation, a 6% rise in junior and senior club participation and 37,841 females participating in the game last year.

2013's significant achievements were announced to members and stakeholders at Queensland Rugby's Annual General Meeting today.

Paul McNicholl, Mark Connors and Mark Thompson were re-elected to the board for another term and Chris White was appointed by the board as the second board-appointed Director following the appointment of Damien Frawley in 2013. Tony Shaw (President) and vice-presidents Bill Ross and Andrew Slack were also re-appointed.
