Preview: Australia v Uruguay

Following their opening 28-13 victory over Fiji, Cheika has made 14 changes to the team as he looks to give everyone a chance to show what they can do ahead of the crunch pool games against England and Wales.

Despite the massive revamp, with loosehead prop Scott Sio the only starter to retain his place, the side still boasts over 800 Test caps and will be expected to dominate the unheralded South Americans.

This means that the likes of Kurtley Beale and Quade Cooper will get a chance to show what they can offer, and the challenge will be to play as a team rather than 15 individuals looking to impress.

Beale said the competition for spots in the back line was nothing but positive.

"It's a huge learning curve," he said.

"It's exciting and it's very challenging for every player who is competing for spots.

"What's great is that we are all learning from each other and as that goes on it is raising the standards and getting the best out of each other, which will improve our results."

Preview: Australia v Uruguay

After the three-try win against Fiji Cheika claimed that he is not concerned about bonus points, but his side will be expected to run Uruguay ragged despite all the changes.

With just two teams guaranteed of automatically qualifying for the quarter-finals, the pressure will be on Australia to nab the bonus point to put the pressure on England and Wales, who play each other in Twickenham on Saturday.

The Australian side will be captained by 31-year-old lock Dean Mumm – known as 'Mummy' to his teammates – who had to rush to London shortly after the announcement for the birth of his second child, a son.

"He's going to start learning about the 'benefits' of no sleep, isn't he, because he will be playing off the back of no sleep," said Cheika.

"But I'm sure he's got a lot of good feelings at the moment and I'm sure that good feeling will flow through for the rest of his life.

"In the short term, also, I'm sure it will be very good for him," he added.

Uruguay have made five changes to the team that lost to Wales, with four in the pack and one in the backline.

They have just a handful of professional players at their disposal and will be hoping to frustrate the more fancied Australians for as long as they can.

Lemoine had confidence in what his side could achieve against the Australians given the nation's growth since its last appearance in the World Cup in 2003.

"Over the last 12 years the team has followed the road of a tier-two team, and over the last four years has had a lot of support from World Rugby, so we need to show that its investment in the team is paying off," Lemoine said.

"We are going to show our best weapons on Sunday and the team will play a good game."

Lemoine, a former tighthead prop with Bristol and Stade Francais, added: "Australia have a very physical game, with good back and forward play, and they are very fast, so we have to be very careful."

 Players to watch:

For Australia: Just about every player will be looking to prove they belong in the first team, which should make things very interesting. Kurtley Beale at fullback and Quade Cooper at flyhalf are two players whose best years are probably behind them but who can still light things up. Henry Speight gets a chance in midfield and Drew Mitchell's experience could prove key. In the forward pack Sean McMahon gets a chance to jump out of the shadow of Michael Hooper and David Pocock while big Will Skelton is sure to use his physicality to full effect and hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau will bring his usual abrasive style.

For Uruguay: There have been four changes to the pack that did duty against Wales with flank Juan de Freitas, prop Mateo Sanguinetti, hooker German Kessler and lock Franco Lamanna all keen to show what they can do on the big stage. Goal-kicker Felipe Berchesi will have to show he can ignite the backline as well and give the likes of wing Leandro Leivas and fullback Gaston Mieres a chance to shine.

Head to head: Kurtley Beale will provide a spark from the back, and it will be interesting to see what Gaston Mieres has to offer in return. Solid Felipe Berchesi will be up against the mercurial Quade Cooper in the flyhalf channel while in the pack Juan Manuel Gaminara will have his hands full against big Wycliff Palu and Uruguay captain Santiago Vilaseca will not want to take a backwards step to Will Skelton.

Previous results:

This is the first time the teams are playing each other.

Prediction: It is tough to see Uruguay compete with the Wallabies, despite the 14 changes. There will be a few Australian players out to prove a point and if they click they could be devastating so we are backing them to win by more than 40 points.
