Brown: No concussion concerns

Brown, 29, sustained the concussion in a sickening collision with Andrea Masi in a Six Nations clash between England and Italy at Twickenham in February.

He has not played since, but will make his comeback in England’s second World Cup warm-up match against France in Paris on Saturday.

The international controlling body, World Rugby, earlier this week issued a stern warning against teams not following the correct return to play protocols, after a series of high-profile concussions – a couple which resulted in loss of life in lower leagues around the world.

"I've had the right treatment and I'm just excited to get back out there," Brown said in an interview on the England website.

"I am obviously massively excited, it’s been a long pre-season and it's been a long time since I played".

World Rugby has become ever-more vigilant in their approach, given the increasing number of serious cases – as the game’s collisions become more violent.

World Rugby Chief Executive Brett Gosper warned teams they risk "sanctions" for failing to comply with concussion protocols at the World Cup.

Freddie Arries, 21, of the Tierberg Rebels Rugby Club in the Boland complained of severe headaches in the evening and passed away suddenly following a match in which he had scored the winning try against Excelsiors United on Saterday August 15.

Last year a young English women's rugby player, Sarah Chesters died from brain injuries one month after she was badly tackled.

This weekend England gear up for a trip to Paris in the second instalment of their double-header against France in preparation for the World Cup.

Mike Brown starts at full back against France after a complete recovery.

Danny Care featured from the bench last weekend as England narrowly defeated France 19-14. He is among the replacements once again for this weekend's clash against Leus Bleus in Paris.

"The crowd were amazing again and I think it's only going to get bigger over the next few games".

Ben Youngs wears the number nine jersey, but Care still wants to make an impression in order to solidify a spot in England's 31-man squad for the World Cup.

Both Care and Brown were part of the side that went down to an agonising 26-24 defeat in the opening game of the 6 Nations in 2014 in the French capital.

Looking ahead at Saturday's match Brown says, "It's just important to carry on from where the guys have left it over the first game, and try to raise it another level"
