"I'm very happy to be here at a club with big ambitions with a great project," said Hayman.

"I really wanted to coach and to transmit my passion after having been a player, to give a helping hand to enable this club to climb towards the top of the Top 14, towards the leading six."

Hayman, capped 45 times for New Zealand, passed his coaching exams during his time at Toulon.

Pau boast two All Black world champions in veteran centre Conrad Smith and flyhalf Colin Slade.
