Pienaar signs for Montpellier

Pienaar, 33, joins the French club from Ulster, where he had been for seven seasons and played in the 2012 European Cup Final before being released due to what he said were Irish Federation rules on foreign players.

The former Sharks playmaker, also an astute kicker, won 88 international caps and will link up with fellow World Cup winners Francois Steyn and the Du Plessis brothers (Bismarck and Jannie) at Montpellier, who will be coached by former Scotland boss Vern Cotter next season.

Pienaar has notched up 88 international caps for the Springboks.
