New 'tapping up' rule for Top 14

"Without the agreement from the president of the club of the player or coach concerned, another club may not, directly or through any other intermediary, propose a contract to a player or coach until he is in the last year of his contract," said a statement from the LNR, who run the top two flights of French rugby.

The new regulation will come into effect at the end of September.

Any infringement of the rule could result in a suspension or fine for any club officials, players or coaches involved.
