French players 'detained' by Scottish police

Scotland police stopped the plane – scheduled to carry the French squad home from Edinburgh – to interrogate several players in connection with a late-night brawl which occurred on Sunday.

Currently, France's plane has remained on the tarmac at Edinburgh Airport.

The French Rugby Federation (FFR) confirmed the news via Twitter.

"The FFR confirms that some players [have been] heard by the Scottish authorities. We are waiting for more information,"

The Rugbyrama website said seven French players are being questioned by the Scottish police, with Louis Picamoles, Teddy Thomas, Arthur Itturia and Eddy Ben Arous among them.

The FFR is waiting for further information before making any additional comments, but it is hardly the preparation that Jacques Brunel will have wanted heading into their game with Italy, after losing their opening two fixtures of the tournament.
