Deans staying put in Japan

Robbie Deans says that he will not be tempted to leave his job in Japan, despite the number of coaching vacancies in South Africa.

With the Stormers, Bulls, Kings and Sharks all yet to name their Super Rugby coaches for next year Deans' name has been thrown around as a possible target, but he made it clear that he will not be leaving the Panasonic Wild Knights any time soon.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the World XV clash with the Springboks at Newlands in Cape Town this weekend, Deans explained that because of his current family situation Japan is ideal.

"Never say never anymore, because who would have thought I would have coached the Wallabies or be coaching in Japan, you just don't know what is around the corner.Deans staying put in Japan

"I have got a current commitment, so it just doesn't fit with what I am doing right now. What I am doing in Japan fits with my family circumstance, I have got three kids all around the globe and it is pretty central and so for now we are happy.

"I think I have got a three year term, but it comes down to what you want and your relationships," he said.

Although he did have a 'brief conversation' with Stormer Director of Rugby Gert Smal, there was no formal offer from the Cape side.

However, Deans said that the vacant Stormers position is a great opportunity for a coach because of the talent available.

"I won't be accepting the Stormers role, if that is your question, but it is a great opportunity for somebody.

"There is a real talent pool here and it is there to do, the Stormers will win Super Rugby at some point," he added.
