EPRU finances not addressed

The financial statements could not be addressed as the AGM was disrupted by a small group of disgruntled clubs shortly after it commenced, led by suspended executive member, Chico Februarie.

Following the initial disruption, the AGM was adjourned while delegates from SA Rugby, led by deputy president Mark Alexander, members from the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, as well as Eastern Cape Sports Council chairperson, Mkhululi Magada, met with Februarie and the rest of the disgruntled club leadership.

A total of 97 of the 119 clubs were in attendance. When the AGM resumed, it continued in a positive spirit

Following this meeting, it was agreed that a separate meeting would be called by February 28, in order to address the various issues they had raised – including the suspension of Februarie, along with a more detailed discussion of the audited financial statements before they can be adopted.

Another topic which failed to be mentioned, was whether or not a vote of no confidence was passed on Cheeky Watson – it may be that this will be addressed at the SGM.
