Ref Joubert set for Scotland 'reunion'

Ref Joubert set for Scotland 'reunion'Craig Joubert became a pariah figure in Scotland after awarding a last-minute penalty to Australia in last month's World Cup quarterfinal at Twickenham, which allowed the Wallabies to secure victory over the Scots.

The 38-year-old will cross paths with Vern Cotter's men again in Dublin, as well as taking charge of England's clash with Wales on March 12 in his only other Six Nations appointment.

World Rugby admitted that Joubert had been wrong to award the decisive penalty, which Bernard Foley kicked to give his side a 35-34 win, and should in fact have awarded a scrum for Australia.

Joubert awarded a penalty for offside pay by Jon Welsh, but a scrum should have been awarded because the ball was touched by Australia's Nick Phipps before Welsh touched it.

Joubert further infuriated Scotland by running off the pitch at full-time and was branded a "coward" by former captain Andy Nicol.
