Disgraced Chambers turns to rugby

Fri, 25 Jul 2008 12:29

Controversial British sprinter Dwain Chambers has revealed he will coach a group of England's top rugby stars.

Chambers lost a High Court appeal against his lifetime ban from the Olympic Games last week, but he is already putting that blow behind him as he resumes his love affair with rugby.

The 30-year-old, who served a two-year ban for testing positive for the steroid THG in 2003, will work with England Rugby Union players David Strettle, Danny Care and Nick Easter on their sprinting over the coming months.

Chambers, who had an unsuccessful trial with Super League team Castleford earlier this year, also plans to help improve the sprint techniques of Rugby League aces.

"I am a huge rugby fan and can't wait to start working with some of the best young rugby players in the country," Chambers told the Sun. "I will be working with forwards as well as the backs.

"This is a great chance for me to keep my fitness levels up and work with some of the best athletes in England.

"I will be working with league players as well as those from union."

Easter, the England No.8, added: "I was looking to do some sprint training this summer and when the opportunity came to train with Britain's fastest man at a local track, it was a no-brainer."

What do you make of Bok coach Peter de Villiers's biblical statements?
He obviously knows the Bible well
He is just deflecting attention away from his lack of coaching knowledge
He should leaves his sermons for the dressing room
