Stags get back in the picture

Southland bounced back from their narrow defeat against Otago last week to claim a 18-5 win against Manawatu in their Air New Zealand Cup clash in Palmerston North on Friday.
The Stags managed to create a try in each half through Scott Cowan and Kendrick Lynn to leave Manawatu behind in this contest.
Cowan, younger brother of All Black scrumhalf Jimmy, made a memorable Air New Zealand Cup debut on the night, opening the scoring for the Stags in the ninth minute.
Southland flyhalf Blair Stewart slotted a penalty and a conversion to help his team to a healthy 10-0 lead at the break.
Stewart's fine form continued in the second period, as he added another penalty to stretch the lead for the visitors.
Stags centre Kendrick Lynn put the result beyond doubt when he scored a try in the 73rd minute, while Manawatu could only muster a consolation try through wing Lote Raikabula.
